I also work in car service and have a lot of respect for the advisors. We have a lot of nice customers, but I have zero patience for the ones that are rude and entitled for no damn reason. Although I force myself to smile and bite my tongue, I give props to advisors for being patient and nice or standing their ground in a calm manner when needed. 👍

    Re TSA
These are low wage employees who know they are useless. It isn't surprising some turn into power tripping assholes. TSA is "security theater" that keeps nobody safe. Two things you might want to look up. First, TSA has an Instagram where they proudly post the stupid items they confiscate, e.g. grenade lighter. You can also look up their scores for the testing they get. They have a fail rate consistently in the 90 percents. Yes, that does mean they never catch anything testers sneak through security.
It must be an awful job. It's not surprising that the people are sometimes awful.
I also want to point out, the terrorist attempts we've had since 9-11 were foiled by passengers (underwear bomber, shoe bomber). No government agency or airline did anything to stop them. Their reactions afterward are just more security theater.
I fly frequently. I tell myself there are other security measures behind the scenes, profiling and stuff that's not politically correct. There must be! I acknowledge I have a hatred for TSA. I don't think it's unreasonable.

I'm not entirely sure if things are different for TSA and CBSA (Canadian equivalent) but it is against the rules for a CBSA officer to take things from travellers for themselves. You can get fined, fired or jail time if you get caught, and the fact that these guys tried to do it is disgusting.

These Compliance stories, are a great thread. These are on par with the pro revenge ones. I feel that, to be a good story. It has to have closure. Closure that supports the protagonist, preferably. But I could live with a story that ends on a bad note. As long as it ENDS. closure. Entitled parrent stories don't, end. They anger me. Compliance stories are soft and sweet and then, they end. I love em.

When I was flying home after getting my GSC Certification (Ground Security Coordinator) for the airline that I worked for I was lucky and got TSA Pre-Check and was happy because I wouldn't have to take my shoes off and would be expedited through screening. But when I got to the front of the line the TSA Agent working told me I had to take my shoes off. I tried to inform him:
"According to the AOSSP, since I have Pre-Check I don't have to."
    "What's that?"
    "... nevermind..."
The AOSSP is the manual that TSA issues out to airlines dictating what they can and cannot do, I even had a copy of it in my bag, but when the guy screening me doesn't know what his own manual is there's just no point in arguing.

TSA is either hilarious, annoying, or fine.
I remember when I was ten and my family was headed out somewhere (I think Texas), my black cowboy hat got stuck in the scanner. Someone misheard is as 'a CAT is stuck in the scanner' instead of a hat. A good few workers and my family laughed once we got it out, though a few workers did look a bit embarrassed.
Also, a good friend of family friends we travel with was leaving with us to hop from Hawaii to California, so she could fly back home to Germany. She gave my friend's dad her carry on bag so it could go ahead of her while she popped into the bathroom. TSA found 4 or 5 bottles of JIF peanut butter in her carry on! They were definitely surprised. Needless to say though, they were taken away. We later found out why she had them was because American peanut butter tastes so much better than German peanut butter.
TSA can be hilarious if given the right situation.

First story.. Wtf? I have carried large empty bottles for years, never once had a problem, agents just confirm that it is empty. On that note, why would you regularly fly with a large, empty glass bottle in your bag? That would have a 300% chance of getting broken in your bag. OP mentions checking the bag, but also watching it go through the xray which is not how any airlines I've ever been on work.

+Emerald Queen There's typically a stopper on the bottom. Pull it out just enough that water seeps through, but the glitter/whatever remains. Typically do this the night before; set it in a sink and let it drain out.
When you get home, flip the globe upside-down and shake it to make sure the particulates are on the top; pop open the stopper all the way, and fill it with water.

Speaking of TSA, this past summer, my dad, brother, and I flew to and from Cleveland (OH) for vacation. For the flight back, we had a departure time of either 2 or 3 in the afternoon. When we got to the airport, there was NO LINE. We were literally in the terminal within 15 minutes of arriving at the airport. The only backup we had was when the tsa agent had to check my dad’s carry-on bag since the fudge looked suspicious on the computer x-ray (they gave it back to us right after they realized it was fudge ).

I actually remember when I was younger my teacher handed me a scavenger hunt list. Find A-Z. You were spouses to find items that started with those letters but instead I just drew a line and arrow right beside the A-Z. I was the only one smart enough to do it so they let me pass by literally just pointing out the alphabet that was already on the paper.
