    whatever i wake up between 3 and 425 5 days a week its called haveing a job got to be at the jobsite at 6am im an electritian the harder part is going to the gym after driveing home at least 2 days a week also going to church wensday night and bible study every other night

    Casey, I am now unsubscribing, as this blatant cross-promotional bullshit is deceptive and frankly disingenuous. We saw this, and just finished (wife and I outloud together) this book Extreme Ownership, and only two pages at the end [pgs 217-272] even discuss waking discipline AT ALL (WTF?!?!!), yet you portray it as the main cruX and tennant/focus of this book?! It is 99.9% on leadership, so all the schmancy hoopla vid here is all on 'TIME' yet has next to NOTHING-NEAR-ZEROto do with this publication whatsoever! I've subscribed and followed you for a few years and enjoyed most of your content immensely, but this (Jocko and his message and mission is solid . .but come'on man!) is just promotion and zero to-do with actual content; not an act of someone with true integrity to his audience. Unsubscribed.

    You say, playing Videogame and watching Netflix is a waste of time, but you create content for a platform that is very well known for wasting most of our time, I think this is a double standard or not?... And according to your schedule, you are either working or working out or with your family or sleeping, at what moment do you give your self time to read a book, visit friends, have some alone time or watch other peoples content, because you have shown as that you also "waste time" getting up to date.

    I did this for a month in an effort to be more successful at my job and burned the hell out. What I realized that that I enjoy my sleep way too much to forgo those extra hours for the sake of 'productivity'. I know a couple guys another guy who this this too, his lung collapsed form the stress brought on by lack of sleep.

    Sorry dude but this is horrible advice...5 hours of sleep is extremely unhealthy it will catch up with you! Former USAF CCT here..I know what getting up early and all nighters are all about...been there done that...but also know a hardcore CCT veteran Mstr Sgt that literally passed out while driving 60mph down the highway due to years of sleep deprivation. He typically would get 4-5 hrs of sleep every night. He wasn't injured badly but the point is you need a full 8 hours of sleep!

    I wake up at 5pm. From 5pm - 8pm i socialize, eat dinner, then when everybody sleeps i have the whole world to myself. The future is now. Technology is 24/7. We no longer need to rely on sunlight to dictate our lives.

    Every person's individual biology is different, though. What's good for one person isn't necessarily good for another. Just like with diet and exercise how much sleep you need, and when you should sleep, depends on your specific biology. There are some similarities between most or all people, sure, but it's not One Size Fits All. I find that if I sleep sometime between 10 thirty and 11pm, for example, I feel better rested, regardless of when I wake up, than if I sleep past 11pm. And I notice I need at least 7 or 8 hours of rest to feel mentally stable. Push it down to 6 and I'm a mess after the 2nd or 3rd day -- can't remember things, mood swings, extreme fatigue, and so on. So, in sum, when a person should sleep and how much they should sleep is specific to their individual biology -- not because some Navy Seal guy thinks it's great for everyone.

    At 3:18 Jocko points out why I don't wake up between 4a and 5a. When you wake up at a specific time you risk picking a fight with your inner clock. Instead of waking up to an outer clock, I wake up to the inner clock. No alarm set - that moment in the middle of the night when you wake for a moment to roll over? Get up instead. Usually hits me between 2am and 3:30am. Get up then and you will be ready for action rather than debating the warmth of your bed.
    The penalty? If you follow your inner clock, you need to follow it when you get sleepy during the day too. 20 minute cat naps when you feel groggy - probably about 3 times per day. Don't fight it, follow it. It's a variation on the "everyman sleep cycle" - no rigid times - just follow your inner clock.
    I get about 3 more hours out of the day.
