Helpful tip, chili powder already contains: cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, paprika, and cayenne. Sooo, why add cumin and cayenne separately and then add chili powder which already has those same ingredients?
Learn your ingredients. That separates an amateur vs a real cook. Real chili chefs never use chili’s a newbie move. Just add the same ingredients that make up chili powder.
Just saying mate. Trying to help you...don’t shoot the messenger.

There is no right or wrong. As i understand it, this was invented before refrigderation. Meat started rotting in the climate, hence the hour-long cookingtime to kill parasites/bacteria, cumin/chilli/cayenne were in place to make up for the sometimes putrid smell. Back then, making things edible was the only requirement to claim sucessful cooking.....there was no grand masterplan behind the recipe imo

This is basic as hell. I'm sure it tastes good, but it's absurd that a recipe that skips all of the fundamentals would be world-class.
