Stephen Colbert took over as host of The Late Show on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Colbert is best known for his work as a television host, writer, actor, and producer, and best known for his charity work teaching English as a second language on Tunisian date farms. Prior to joining the CBS family -- and being officially adopted by network president Les Moonves -- Colbert helmed “The Colbert Report,” which aired nearly 1,500 episodes and required Stephen to wear nearly 1,500 different neckties. The program received two Peabody Awards, two Grammy Awards, and several unwelcome shoulder massages. It won two Emmys for Outstanding Variety Series in 2013 and 2014, both of which appear to have been lost in the move. Colbert is pronounced koʊlˈbɛər, according to Wikipedia. His understudy is William Cavanaugh, who will be hosting The Late Show approximately one third of the time. Good luck, Bill!"

Colbert is strange. He leans forward way too much and way too far with female guests, even married women like Emily Blunt. Johnny Carson never did that. Carson respected their space and was cool in a way that Colbert will never be.

I would wear mine. I never leave without it now. I love my baseball cap. It's a navy Goorin Bros. Lone Wolf cap. We love caps in the USA. I now live in Turkey and I don't see them much here either... not people wearing them anyways. They're sold but don't see many guys in them. If they do wear any hat, it's usually a flat cap or a beanie. I love my Lone wolf cap :)

It is pretty easy to straighten out Brits on who won WWII. If the US joins the Axis side then France, UK, USSR and China lose the war. The US sent in the weapons, ammo and fuel. Without those, you're toast. Nazis would have owned you but they ran out of gas. That simple. Why have a baseball hat with a sun visor in the UK? There is no sun. British effusive is brilliant!

The British saved the US you ignorant pricks. The Battle of Britain was well over before Germany declared war on you. The Russians and the British Empire beat the Germans.
We appreciate your belated help but the war was essentially over. It would have dragged on for an extra two years without you but you were not essential and the 'we saved you' Hollywood BS is frankly embarrassing to anyone who has studied even the most basic history of that period.

It also needs to be said that if arguing about taking shares of credit in WWll is so important lets not forget ALL of the allies looked the other way for WAY too long regarding Hitlers bullshit before war was declared because of the invasion of Poland. England and U.S. are damn near cousins but a lot of the comments I read have a competitive almost we are better than you vibe that would make plenty of sense to Hitler . Damn can’t we all agree there were tough choices and circumstances and that the better part of human nature triumphed?

OK so the USA only went to war with Japan after Pearl Harbor and let you" handle" the Third Reich and then the post war USSR all on your own-with the Vichy French. And now you would be speaking a crude Russo-German patois and having Czar Vladimir I instead of Queen Elizabeth II, as your Head of State. Sometimes being late IS better than never. • Gary L
      Gary L 4 months ago

"Saving" the UK was a "strategic imperative", if/when the USA was going to take on the Third Reich. All of the major Allied invasions of the Western European continent originated from the UK. Having the British Isles as a gigantic airport, seaport, supply depot, Intelligence center, etc. was a big advantage vs having to launch an invasion all the way from the US mainland or from some obscure island in mid-Atlantic- like ICELAND. UK also had, at that time, a very competent army, air force and an excellent and large navy. It was a win-win situation for the UK & USA.

Make no mistake. If not for America, England would have either fallen to the Germans or it would have starved to death. Are we arrogant? Yes. Did we wait until only after we were forced to enter the fray? Yes. There is plenty of American blood soaking the soil of Europe. Fact of the matter is that England could fall off the face of the earth and most Americans would never notice. It would also barely make a ripple in the day to day lives of the rest of the world.
