Return to Neverland was one of my favourite movies growing up. I was like 5 the first time I saw it and I still love it to this day.
And even though it was literally called *return* to Neverland and I knew there was another Peter Pan film, I didn't know it was a sequel. I know I'm very stupid lol

So... The Little Mermaid franchise. The Little Mermaid was my absolute childhood. My parents say that when I was a toddler, I would watch it on repeat over and over again and then hum the songs staring out the window. Because of my love for that movie, my parents got Return to the Sea. And... I was so little at the time, I loved it. That movie became just as nostalgic to me as the original. It's been over ten years since then, and I can't shake that nostalgia. I know that cinematically, it's really not a good movie, and even my mom (who likes The Last Airbender movie more than the original show...) doesn't like the movie. It's just so nostalgic for me that I can't imagine disliking it. It really isn't a good movie, it just means so much to me and my childhood that I love it

I loved Mulan 2 as a child and still have really, really fond memories of it. Then I noticed that the reason was that literally the only things I remember liking and remember from the movie at all was the stuff with the soldiers and the princesses, like I legit thought the movie was just about them.

Jungle Book 2 really wasn't that good... It had some good art quality to it, but there was a lot that they just botched...
Take Shere Khan, who is still the primary antagonist in the film. In the original movie, his only motivation was out of fear than man with fire and gun would hunt him. Thus, while Mowgli was young and helpless, and thus couldn't hunt Shere Khan, the tiger would hunt him. But once the flaming tree branch was attached to Shere Khan's tail in the original movie, he ran and ran off into the rain. In this the tiger was shown to be a powerful threat to nearly everything in the jungle, but also holding a great deal of crippling fear. Yet in the sequel, Khan's sole motivation is revenge and he goes no deeper than that. And at the same time... it's also completely eradicated his fear of man and fire to the point where he just walked right into the man village with the intent of taking Mowgli from it. Which essentially renders the decision to send him to the man village pointless in the first movie.
And while I could understand Baloo missing Mowgli... I'd think that part was rather over done, particularly when looking at the end of the original where he and Bagheera sing the "Bare Necessities" and return to where they belong. In this it was just sort of forced in to create the massive confusion of trouble to try and bring Mowgli back to the jungle. In this, a lot of it was a sort of forced conflict that wasn't going to resolve easily...
In this, I'd think if they were going to do a sequel to the Jungle Book, they perhaps should have had the primary antagonist actually come from man. The Jungle Book came from an era where modern concepts, like the preservation of wildlife, was NOT a concern. Science had interest in studying extinct wildlife and some even in studying biology of the world, but there was no great desire to protect wild lands in the mid 1800s to early 1900s among the world's governments. In this they could have introduced a random English noble who had come to hunt a tiger as the ultimate game animal... And he of course hears of Mowgli and thus Mowgli's involvement and it's THAT that brings him back to the Jungle.
The course of the story would then follow that the English hunter is only out for glory or some prize with little real redeeming value. Thus violating the jungle's prime law, "kill to eat or keep from being eaten." This would serve as Mowgli finds he must deal with the man and that provides a greater measure of the conflict... And in the end, Mowgli saves Shere Khan from being shot on that basis... essentially showing what Mowgli wanted to explain in the original movie. And he'd then return to the man village for his love of his now human family and possibly being in love with Shanti's character. It would have served to shape how Mowgli dealt with more human issues, things not seen in the original movie...
Instead, his reason to go back in the sequel movie is solely because man has rules that require work and that his adoptive father didn't understand who Mowgli was. The original movie sets the story up that Mowgli was raised by wolves. In this, he'd never heard human vocalizations before. Which would mean realistically speaking, he would need to learn how to speak human languages. Which if done, would give his adoptive parents a pretty easy clue that Mowgli had spent years in the jungle before wandering into their village after Shanti. That he could not have just recently been abandoned and managed to find his way in. And even if we are to assume that Mowgli could speak with the humans on his arrival in the man village... because Disney with talking animals, one would assume that he'd then tell the adoptive parents that he'd been in the jungle for years. They'd thus know that Mowgli was not someone recently abandoned and lucky to survive... but had experiences that went back years and would thus mean that he could probably handle the jungle better than the others...
In this... I would have seen it better that Mowgli's adoptive father should have trusted Mowgli with foraging journey's into the jungle, with perhaps an escort, just to be safe, but not the whole, "no the jungle is dangerous" lecture that we got. After all, we know Mowgli was raised by wolves, advised by a wild leopard (which in reality can be JUST as dangerous as a tiger), and befriended a sloth bear (which is Baloo's species). And it'd be quite likely that Mowgli would share that... and it would be that sort of local knowledge that would be attractive to the English hunter in my idea on how it should have gone...

I agreed with you until we reached #3. While I don't disagree with you on any of your "Worst" list, I must respectfully disagree with your top 3 "Best". For starters,Rescuers Down Under remains my #1, and for many of the reasons you mentioned. However, I also hold it highly as it was not only the first Disney Animated Sequal, but because (not counting the 3D films), it and Fantasia 2000 are the only Disney Animated Sequals to ever have a theatrical release. So, while I was disapointed Fantasia 2000 wasn't one of your top two, I AM glad you at least gave it an honerable mention. Second, I can't argue with you that the Aladdin sequals and Peter Pan 2 are great, they're just a little lower on my list. I really like that the Peter Pan sequal actually gave validity to Hook by explaining how Jane and Peter met in the first place. But, I'm a little wishy-washy on Cinderella 3. I won't argue that the story was good. But it took the best part of Cinderella 2 (Anistasia's story arch) and threw it out the second story window. I mean, I realize Disney has a thing about doing this with their villains, but I LIKED DHS fact that Anistasia had fallen in love with a bread baker and tried to become a better person so she could meet him, even against her mother's disaproval of the idea that he was lower class. When they chose to set Anistasia with Prince Charming, they not only showed who Lady Tremain seemed to favor between her two daughters, but COMPLEATLY retconned the entire story line why Anistasia became one of the good guys to begin with. Perhaps, if they had used Drisella instead, giving both girls an arch to show them they were wrong in following their mother, I might have held it in higher regaurd.

Wow...I...cannot agree with this list at all lol. I despised Peter Pan 2 with every fiber of my being. Jane, no matter what you say, completely tarnishes the whole point of the original movie and her character is absolute garbage. The sequel shit all over an amazing bond the first one created; the only saving grace was when Peter and Wendy meet again. But thats more heart-wrenching and upsetting than it is satisfying.

And I think the sequel to Ariel was very realistic with how things probably worked out and in the end Ariel got over her fears and things changed.
Also the Cinderella movies were maybe not the most artistically or plot wise best movies of all but they were interesting for people who loved Cinderella and loved the characters like I did.

I would probably put Peter Pan 2 at the #1 spot for the worst sequel.
