    "Dreadspace" by Augustus Meleo
A grandfather who lives across the country from his family tries to connect with his grandson inside virtual reality.
A grandfather living across the country from his family begrudgingly agrees to use virtual reality in an attempt to connect with his neglected grandson. To the grandfather's surprise, these two family members from entirely different generations must connect inside of a violent video game. And together - while fighting for their survival in the game - they each have to help the other overcome a loneliness in their real lives.

This was HILARIOUS and sweet. Spot-on live-action parody of MMORPG environments and avatar/human mashups. Captures the silliness as well as the surprising connections. Reminds me of hanging out in SL with my kids who were 1000 miles away. At least that's who they said they were. Anyway.... Literally LOL'ed multiple times. Great work!

Two things.. first, that kid is a spoiled little shit. I'd backhand the fuck out of him for not appreciating his grandfather, his harsh vindictive hateful words towards his grandfather honestly made me upset just because Id do anything to have my grandpa back and be able to play a game with me like that and also just for being a little shit.. second thing, so what's with that game is that supposed to be like actors that play out the game? because they showed actual people setting up the damn thing before they played.. I mean how the fuck would that work what if these kids are going to do a goddamn 48-hour marathon, you know?

  • Learn something for Eternity

I think it will be a classic with The Secret Garden and Pinocchio. Pinocchio was created as a wooden puppet but he dreams of becoming a real boy. The book starts out “Centuries ago there lived-- "A king!"” I think about The King God who made man as an object of His love and His love is way beyond our desire to be loved, we must learn to adjust. C.S. Lewis talks about “If the immutable heart can be grieved by the puppets of its own making...” If He “chooses to need us, it is because we need to be needed”. The Problem of Pain. George MacDonald is the father of fantastic. We are in a VR, nothing is solid, it is just atoms moving. Use the light to see the real Grandfather.

this is precisely WHY kids can't distinguish between real and fake, and have no feeling for killing or death of other human beings. Sorry not sorry. Not the way to bond with your grandkids. SMH.
