  • Did you know you can buy men's, women's and unisex plus size tops inside Disney parks? And did you know most of the largest gift shops in each park have dressing rooms where you can try things on? Join me as I take you into Walt Disney World, Hollywood Studios to shop at Keystone Clothiers and Sunset Club Couture for plus size shirts -- I even show you the dressing rooms and try some things on for you .... I do new shopping videos for each park seasonally so I can show you all the great new styles that are coming in new each season.

    Cute Ariel top!

  • Shelly Facciola Hassdenteufel

Oh my goodness that Belle top is so great on you!!!

  • Shelly Facciola Hassdenteufel

I couldn’t agree more, plus size people should be consulted on plus size clothing lines!!!!!

  • Shelly Facciola Hassdenteufel

I wish the Snow White top were a different color, I don’t love the white.

I agree with others: Torrid has licensed Disney clothing up to 6X, so why can’t they sell more larger sizes in the parks?

    • Karen D
      Karen D 6 months ago

Pammie Plus Parks Absolutely. The parks do seem to be selling more larger sizes than they have, so it will be interesting to see how things are in a few years.

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  6 months ago +1

And the prices of the Torrid merch is often much lower than in the parks. One would think the Torrid buyers would use the same vendors and factories that are already fitted to create plus size clothes to create more plus fashions for the parks.

The issue I have with everything you tried on is that it all looks designed for a tween and not an adult. Folks may love Disney and Disney characters but adults wearing clothing designed for juveniles is really awful. I don't care what size you are...it has to do with age. Ruffles on the sleeves and hem with polka dots and cartoons....that belongs on an 8 year old. Disney can do a heck of a lot better with their adult sized clothing styles.

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  7 months ago

@Susan M I've been 6 times and in all those times I found one, single shirt in a plus size. It is extremely hit or miss at the outlets. If you live in the area or if you are vacationing and have lots of other skipping to do, then it is worth a visit.... but if you are planning to only visit that store while at the outlets, you may be very disappointed.

    • Susan M
      Susan M 7 months ago

@Pammie Plus Parks i did watch that and i agree those clothing styles are loads better. :) If you have not been yet to the Disney Character Warehouse at the Orlando Premium Outlets you should go. They have so many items that are sold at the parks at huge discounts including lots of clothes. I know they have wide range of sizes and you can buy everything so much cheaper so you can buy more. I bought my orange bird dress there for $65 when the parks sell it for double. Check it out if you haven't already!

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  7 months ago +1

I did actually see a lot of those styles in youth sizes. The wonky fit of most of them leads me to believe they took a youth pattern and upsized it to Missy/adult sizes then again took it and upsized it again to plus sizes. That would account for the weird placement of ruffles, super skinny but extra long sleeves, etc. They are trying to provide more options but they do need to work a little harder at it. If you check out my 4 part shopping series at Disney Springs that I filmed a few months later you will see how much better the selection has gotten across the board.

Pammie, I love you in the Belle shirt...Super cute! I hope they still have it when I go in October. As for the first shirt, I feel like no plus size person EVER wants ruffles on the boobs or the butt. It's like you just put a sign on yourself that says "Hey everybody...look at my fat butt!" No thanks!

    • Pammie Plus Parks
      Pammie Plus Parks  Year ago

LOL -- I hear you on that one -- but I do think ruffles and other embellishments can be super cute on plus size clothing if it is done in the right fabric and if the proportions are right. I really feel like they just took an average size garment and made it twice as large without testing it on a plus size person -- I mean -- the shoulders were massive, the sleeves were a mile long and yet the torso was tight and short. LOL. It was a disaster.

    • Pammie Plus Parks
      Pammie Plus Parks  Year ago

Agreed! I think the manufacturer just took a Missy/average size top and doubled the size without skewing the proportions to fit a normal human body. That's how you end up with massive shoulders, huge arm holes, super long sleeves that are kind of skinny, a ruffle that is placed too high and a torso that is too tight and too short. If they had taken the time to use plus size fit models and patterns they might have gotten the proportions right -- but the pattern and style still look like a 1980's Garanimal kid's outfit. LOL

Belle shirt looked great but the Ariel was fabulous and the color was beautiful on you too.

    • Pammie Plus Parks
      Pammie Plus Parks  Year ago

When you see shirts like that with super long, thin sleeves with giant arm holes and droopy shoulders with poorly placed embellishments it is a clear sign they took a Missy (average size) pattern and just made it 50% larger all over - not taking into consideration the proportions of a normal human. That plus size top isn't going to fit any plus size woman properly unless it is altered to fit. Even a very tall plus size women would find the sleeves fit but the length of the top would be too short. LOL. And yeah -- that combo of dots and ruffles is very juvenile. I think I would have loved this when I was in the 1st grade if it were 1983. LOL

    • Allen Thomas

The ruffled ones were not your fault, not sure who the polka dots and ruffles would look good on.

I have ordered a few Disney T-Shirts, and find the plus sizes variable. One 2x was a good bit too small though that is my usual size, the next one was ordered in 3X. It just arrived and looks huge. It is a Hanes T-shirt. Puzzling.

    • Pammie Plus Parks
      Pammie Plus Parks  Year ago

This link will take you to a top that comes in women's plus sizes and is sized specifically to fit a plus size woman. Check out the size chart for the 2X and you will see that a 2X in Women's Plus fits a woman size 26 or size 28. So, as you can see if you look for feminine tops labeled as 1X, 2X, 3X they will have the most generous fit and will be cut to fit a woman's curves. If you for a men's or unisex top in Hanes, the sleeves will be long and full, the torso may be a bit baggy and it could be tight in the hips plus the length may be a bit shorter than a woman's plus top. If you go for a Missy size top in an xxl it will be shorter and tighter with a shorter torso. Hope this info helps.

Here's a link to a Disney ladies top that is from a Missy/average size pattern and goes up to a size XXL which translates roughly to a plus size woman's size 22. OK -- if they have a princess on them they are ladies tops and if they are labeled as xl, xxl, xxxl or xl, 2xl, or 3xl -- they are Missy size shirts. In other words, they have upsized a Missy/average shirt and just made it an inch or two bigger all around. I am going to copy some links to different types of tops available on shopdisney.com so you can go look at them and check the sizing chart for each to see the differences.

Not only should Disney hire you as a consultant, but they really need a PLUS SIZE DISNEY STORE for both men and women (and unisex!). I prefer the men's style t-shirt, but they're difficult to find in bright colors! I really need some 5x Rainbows! They can test it out at Disney Springs before putting one in every park. I'll wait.

    • Christine Gallego, BSN, RN
Christine Gallego, BSN, RN Year ago

Pammie Plus Parks I agree but I don’t see them wanting to branch out in that way. Plus size people have been around for generations and it hasn’t happened yet. I don’t see why they don’t just add sizes to their merch.
Well until they do I am happy to shop at Torrid before my trip. Although it would be nice to be included for sure.

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  Year ago +1

Christine Gallego, BSN, RN - that's possible but I feel like they would make as much money with a plus size shop at Disney Springs as they do with any other store. Even if they just did a section of another store and advertised that they carried all their plus sizes in that shop in addition to other stores....I think people would make a special trip to the store to shop so they don't have to scour all the other stores in the parks. I am planning to do a letter writing campaign to Disney to get then to further increase their range of plus size offerings and create a plus size shop or section in a Disney Springs store.

    • Christine Gallego, BSN, RN
Christine Gallego, BSN, RN Year ago

Pammie Plus Parks I don’t think they want to do a plus size store. I believe that’s why they gave TORRID their license to sell all things Disney.

Nancy Dalton Find out who the Buyers are for those shops. Then ask how that buy tshirts. Is it just a pile of flat lay on a table' is photos of models wearing, fabric swatches, models in front of the Buyers? With onfo from the Buying team you can then use to tell them how they would benefit from carrying more plus sizes. They shoukd be willing to listen. Walt Disney wanted people from all over the world to come to a place that was happy, and everyone is equal. That vision included plus size too.
