  • Is a trip to the Disney Character Warehouse at the Vineland Premium Outlets in Orlando worth it when you are on vacation at Walt Disney World?
You have been asking me for ages to visit the #DisneyCharacterWarehouse and show you all the #PlusSizeFashion available in the store. In this video I take you inside the store to show you the clothing, take a look at the pricing and show you what it is like to navigate this busy story as a Plus Size person or someone using a wheelchair or ECV.
I also share my top tips for making the most of your time while visiting the store.

I truly appreciate this video because my trip is only one week so now I know it’s not worth it to take the time to make the trip out. 👍

  • Shelly Facciola Hassdenteufel

I love your hair down Pammie!! I’m anticipating keeping mine up in a bun the entire week I’m there because I tend to sweat buckets, so seeing you with your hair down in July is very impressive, lol!!!

  • Shelly Facciola Hassdenteufel

Wow, you got a great deal on that gorgeous dress Lisa!! 🥳

  • Shelly Facciola Hassdenteufel

Whoa, I definitely thought it would be bigger than a Walgreens type store! Good to know...

  • Shelly Facciola Hassdenteufel

I’ve definitely been curious if the warehouse is worth it for plus size people, thanks for taking this trip for us!!! 👏😊

Very honest and informative video. When I was in Disney village in Disneyland Paris shopping there are some sale/clearance areas in the regular stores, is it similar I'm Disney springs or anywhere in WDW?

I have personally never seen anything on sale or discounted in the parks or at Disney Springs. Maybe the non Disney shops at Disney Springs run sales but to my knowledge, the Disney shops do not. I believe all sale merch goes to the outlet stores or their employee store.

We went in the off season and it was still crazy. Agree, don't bring a stroller. Not enough room, like most stores in malls. Sorry people ran into you. I read how he did it purposely! So rude!! I've accidentally ran into people because they completely stopped directly in front of me to take a picture or walked directly in front of me. Not all of us with strollers are crazy! Haha

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  2 months ago +1

Strollers can be hard to control, especially when they are loaded with kids and gear. I totally get that. I've seen lots of people try to cut in front of strollers - so rude! For busy times of year and major holidays, I wish the parks had a lane in each direction for folks using strollers, wagons, wheelchairs, rollaters and ECV's so that people can't jump in front of them.

Have you tried on any of the Disney spirit jerseys? I was wondering about their sizing for a plus size woman.

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  2 months ago

Yes, I have. They are not for me. I don't like the way they look -- they are super baggy around the shoulders, arms and bustline with extra long sleeves. The torso tapers down, getting narrower from just below the bustline to the hips/belly where is snug. The proportions are not good on me and it looks really sloppy in some areas and tight in others. I normally wear a women's 3x in Disney merchandise which equates to about a size 26/28. The largest size the spirit jersey's come in is a straight size XXL which is about a size 22/24

If you are a bargain hunter and looking for deals on a variety of stuff -- the Character Warehouse will be a great experience. However if you are looking for something specific or particular sizes or styles -- it can be hit or miss. But if you are open minded and interested in lots of different things -- you'll have a great time.

Pammie Plus Parks  2 months ago

If you have a free day and plan to do other shopping in the mall -- it can be an nice way to spend your free day. But if you are going there specifically to look for plus size clothes -- it can be disappointing. I wouldn't go out of my way to visit but if you have a free day and an open mind -- you can find lots of great deals.

You can also download the MyPark app and get decent parking with that. I have found some great deals but their plus sizes are all over the place. Meaning that you never know their sizes will fit. In something’s my size is too big and others it’s too small.

We went back in June and the parking wasn’t that bad. In July I turned around and left because it was insane. I love the store, but the crowd is somewhat anxiety inducing.

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  2 months ago +1

It can be quite anxiety inducing for those with anxiety issues. We have arrived at the mall an hour before opening on a weekday and had an easier time parking and on one occassion found a spot close to the store -- but for the most part if you are going on the weekend and you aren't there at least an hour before the mall opens -- you are going to spend 20 minutes or more looking for a free parking spot.

You poor thing. People are horrible with strollers. They should be written up somehow for hitting people. I've been seriously injured from having he back of my ankles rammed to the point I couldn't walk, and my poor 70 year old mother, who already has issues with her legs, has been rammed, and the people doing it just laugh. Rarely are they sorry. It's so not okay.

    • LMB925
      LMB925 2 months ago

@Pammie Plus Parks It does make it harder in that situation. You are kind and understanding. I'm not sure I could have been, but I will keep you in mind and not lose my temper next time I'm battling the Orlando crowds. :) I try not react and I have never acted got in altercation with someone (although I have told people "that's not okay", or very loudly explained to my nieces & nephew why that kind of behavior isn't okay). Still, it's hard even with people who come from other areas that have a much different standard of etiquette and acceptable behavior. I always try to keep things in perspective around the crowds in Orlando, but it is hard. No one is at their best.
BTW: Thanks for the video. I live in Bradenton and for years have meant to get to the Disney outlets and have felt I was missing out by not going, but now I don't feel I need to go out of my way on that one at least. Sorry I didn't mention that sooner.

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  2 months ago +1

@LMB925 the gentleman was from another land where perhaps that was acceptable behavior. He also had a small child with him and based on his grunting and pointing I believe he did not speak English. I think it would have been pointless to talk to him and I do all I can not to escalate situations in front of children. I checked, I wasn't bleeding, just a bit banged up but no worse for the wear.

    • LMB925
      LMB925 2 months ago +1

@Pammie Plus Parks Oh my gosh! He should have been arrested for assault. There's no difference in that and shoving/punching someone.
I've often suspected people doing it on purpose on occasion, but never had an incident where I was certain of it. Really, people have no idea how incredibly painful that is, especially if you have hurt feet already and you have hours of walking/standing ahead of you to get out of where you're at be it park or shopping center.
I honestly don't know what I'd do in your situation. You don't want to react to people like that, but it's hard not to escalate the situation by verbally letting them have it. You are so nice and well mannered. If I saw that happen to you, or anyone, I'd have gone off on the guy. I hate to say it as I think it's not okay to act like that in return and add to the problem, but it's not okay for people to do that.
I would like to see Disney take a stand and at least be more proactive in warning people how to behave when using strollers in park and stores, and issue warnings that they could be banned for such behavior. I'm sure they have no idea how bad it can be. The store manager should watch people with strollers and remove people like that and ban them.

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  2 months ago

The crazy thing is that the person who hit me with the stroller was a man who did it on purpose. He hit me really, really hard with it while I was standing in front of a rack vlogging -- I tried to only stand still and vlog for around :30 but he really wanted to see what was on the rack, so he rammed me. When I recovered my balance he grunted at me, pointed to the rack then rammed me again!

I always go later in the day, after 9:00 pm & it's usually dead. I would never go at opening because the resellers are ruthless. They restock more when it's less busy. Also, I prefer the I Drive location, because it's not as picked over as Vineland.

You paid to park. I found a parking spot near the Ralph Lauren shop. Parking is like the Christmas season. Took me 30 minutes to find a parking spot.

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  2 months ago

We drove around the entire mall twice and it took over 20 minutes. There wasn't a single open space that wasn't valet or paid parking. It was $3 to park in the hot sun in a spot that was a long walk from the store we were visiting - and you needed to download an app and give it credit card info in order to secure the spot which we did not want to do. So, we decided to spend $10 on the parking garage which was a much shorter walk to the mall and fairly close to the store -- plus the garage was covered parking and our car was nice and cool when we returned to it.

Pammie Plus Parks  2 months ago

Thanks, Elizabeth! I have been able to get a great fit on most 3x item when I was up to a size 32 or 5x in other stores. So, they are usually generously sized -- but I agree I would rather have shirts that are true to size and available in up to a 6x or a size 32. I will say this though -- 9 years ago when I first became a passholder there was only one style of shirt available in Women's Plus 3x. Now there are dozens of styles. Disney is getting better and better. I used to campaign for more styles in up to 3x but now my goal is to campaign for items in up to 6x for men and women. 💚

I actually filmed that section 3 times because people kept making rude gestures in the background. It was super hot and I just gave up after she did that because it was not obscene. I thought those were some great deals I went the the Disney outlet in California and pretty much the same if you can find the size you need it’s a great place to go. I’ve found spirit jerseys every time I’ve gone. I shop there first then do my shopping in the park

If you are a die hard shopper and you need to pick up a bunch of small souvenirs or toys or kids clothes -- you will find some great deals. But if you are looking for plus size shirts for men or women -- the selection, if there is anything -- is really limited.

  • AbbieJolie C

Sounds like a pair of Lyft or Uber rides would make it easier.

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  2 months ago +1

It can but you have to factor the cost of that into your purchases. For instance if you find a tee shirt you like and pay $10 for it and you also paid $15 for Lyft/Uber and a tip -- you actually paid $25 for the shirt -- and if that's what the shirt sells for in the parks -- it's not much of a deal. There is also the time and energy to factor in. If you are on vacation for a week -- would that time be better spent in the resort's spa or lounging by the pool and getting fully rested and relaxed rather than fighting the crowds at an outlet mall?

Thank you so much for this video! We are traveling to St. Pete soon and I want to take a trip to Orlando while there. But only for a day or two. • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  2 months ago +1

I honestly think that is a better use of time. Disney Springs is lovely and there is a lot to do and see there as well as tons of shopping. There are plenty of places to sit and relax out of the sun, lots of great dining and entertainment options that aren't available at the Outlet Mall -- plus parking is free and very easy to navigate.

  • Belle McIntee

Although I wouldn't expect to find a lot of tee shirts, I'd still go for the loungefly, dresshop, and the A&A jewelry. Those items are so often heavily discounted. 😍 Were planning our vacation and when our plane lands we would only have a handful of hours in the park so instead were going to outlet shop and start fresh in the park the next day! I cant wait!

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  2 months ago

Ahh, well that explains it -- the line to the counter snaked back and forth and was about 35 minute wait to get to the counter -- so I don't think I would have asked to see them even if I had known they were there.

    • Korrae
      Korrae 2 months ago

They keep the Alex & Ani behind the counter, Pammie. The stores always have it. You just have to ask to see the displays.

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  2 months ago

There wasn't any Alex & Ani jewelry there on this trip and has not been on 6 previous trips over the past year. In the video, the dress Lisa holds up had just been put out and she snapped it up -- it was the ONLY one in that style. The dresses I showed were all snapped up before I left the store and they had literally just been put out. It is the only time in a half dozen visits over the past year that there were any adult dresses out. The discounts can be really amazing -- but the chances of finding a great selection in your size is not reliable. There were lots of Loungefly wallets but no bags on this visit. It's the luck of the draw.

@Korrae that is fantastic! I have been able to find spots in the free lots in the past when I arrive 30 to 60 minutes before store opening on a weekday. Weekends are much tougher. We got there about 15 minutes prior to opening and circled the entire mall 2 full times without luck. The traffic was so bad that it took over 20 minutes to circle twice. Eventually we gave up and paid to park. I've visited this location over a dozen time in the past 2 years and only ever once got a reasonably good free parking spot close to the store. Many viewers have mobility concerns and I want to let them know all of the potential challenges if they are driving and parking on a weekend.

Yes, we saw that but since I am not a local and I'm making the video for folks who are on vacation -- I figure most people won't be willing to add an app to their phone just to get a parking space for a one time visit. That app is great if you go regularly though.

Thank you for this video, Pammie! You confirmed what I was already thinking, and why I have never been. I don't buy a lot of small souvenirs, and the hassle (and cost) of going there just doesn't seem worthwhile for what I would save. Either I can afford it in the parks or I can't, but I'm not going to waste time on my vacation going there in the hope that I can find what I want a little cheaper. Plus, the amount that I would spend on impulse "it's a great deal" purchases would probably cover the cost of just buying what I want in the parks. I know not everyone agrees - my sisters are both appalled at my attitude!

    • Karen D

Pammie Plus Parks I’m from the U.K. and Brits usually go for 2 weeks, but the exchange rate means that we no longer get the bargains in the US that we used to. I just don’t think it would be worth the hassle for me. I would rather order from Shop Disney during a sale and get it shipped to my hotel. I don’t enjoy shopping, and if I wouldn’t queue for 40 minutes for a ride, I’m certainly not queuing in a store for that kind of time!

    • Pammie Plus Parks
Pammie Plus Parks  2 months ago +1

Unless you are visiting for a couple of weeks and planning to shop at other stores in the mall, or you live locally and can turn around and go home if the lots are full, I don't think it is worth the hassle.

Disney needs to make this store an actual warehouse, bigger store with wider aisles, was too many people and very cramped. Unfortunately it's near impossible to shop with kids NOT in a stroller, they grab at everything and can get away from you if you aren't holding their hand the entire time and then shopping with one hand is also challenging.

  • Belle Pullman
Belle Pullman 2 months ago +1

The Character Warehouse is so random - what a bargain on those dresses! I wouldn't have been able to resist! I hope someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but as I understand it, if you buy something in any of the Disney parks/resorts, you can return it anywhere within the resorts? (Specifically not the character warehouse...) So if you're planning to go to the Character Warehouse but you see something you love in the parks, it's worth getting it when you see it but hold on to the receipt. Then if you do find the same thing/something better at a discount, you can return your full-price item.
In fact, it's always worth buying the thing when you see it, because the chances of it still being there in a few days? IF you go ahead and buy it, of course it'll still be available. But if you decide to come back, it will have gone! (I don't want to encourage impulse shopping, but more, if you've gone with the intention of buying a specific souvenir. I like to get a new hoodie to wear through the winter to remind me of the vacation!)

Things you buy on WDW property can be returned to any shop (but not kiosks) at any WDW park or resort, but you cannot return things you buy at WDW to the Character Warehouse and you can't return things you bought at Character Warehouse at WDW parks or resorts. So, if you see something you like in the parks, snap it up and if you later find it for less at the Character Warehouse (very rare) then you can return the item you bought in the parks to any shop at WDW

Great details of this location. On our first visit there, we were surprised how small the store really is. Thanks for posting. Cheers!

I was shocked the first time I visited. Even in this video it looks far larger than it really is. I don't want people to be disappointed when they visit.

Agreed and you also need to factor in the cost of parking or taxi/uber/Lyft into your trip. If the only thing you buy is a $6 mug and it cost you $12 in transportation or parking...you spent $18 for the mug when you could have bought it for $16 in the park.

Ugh. I know. I don't fully understand the need some folks have to do that. Its not like they know the channel and will see themselves. Oh well - no one is getting hurt so what can you do?

Yeah, the selection's really luck of the draw. I got my Dooney Orange Bird satchel there for less than half price - score!

It truly is. Sometimes you find some things you really like but other times you find nothing. The line for the register for this visit was over 30 minutes long. If you go, you have to pack your patience.

I went at the beginning of June, and maybe I just went on the wrong day, but there was NOTHING good there. Most of the shelves were bare. My friend and I were so disappointed, especially since we paid for a taxi to and from the store.

Although there were plus size items in my size in this video, I didnt like them. There were a few small things I wanted but I did not want to stand in line for over 30 minutes to buy them. I am not a fan of this store but I understand why others are.

For me it is totally worth it! It is my first stop when I arrive in Orlando. I've never spent more than 5 minutes looking for parking. If you use an app like Waze it will take you to the nearest parking lot. I always cut through the food court. Also, the International Drive location has a better variety of sizes. Both stores get really crowded when they open early in the morning because they get new merchandise everyday and people know this.

Never been to the character warehouse! We may have to get an Uber when we are there in October to check it out!

Very true! Something to think about. I thought it was a large store since they call it a warehouse

Factor in the cost of your transportation into your trip. If you spend $15 in transportation and you buy a shirt for $10, you actually spent $25 for a tee shirt that costs $25 in the parks. It's a small store with a random selection of styles and sizes. Some times you make out like a bandit and sometimes you leave empty handed.

Without even watching the video, yes it’s worth it!!! And a lot of the time there is merchandise that is still in the parks. Many times I purchased items I just saw the day before in the parks. We take a quick look around, then get in line and send the best shopper back to look for more items. She will bring stuff over to me ask if I like it , by the time she is done we are ready to check out.

I guess because I go to the parks so often and it is easy and convenient to find what you want there, I prefer it over leaving property to visit this store. Even when I find something I like, I don't want to stand in line over 30 minutes to buy it. I understand why people love the store but it is a huge hassle for me.
