  • Published on Dec 1, 2018
  • Connect to your computer to watch movies, browse the web or play games on a giant virtual screen or in various theater environments. Virtual Desktop is a highly optimized, native application developed for low latency, high quality streaming.
    • Connect up to 4 computers and switch between them in seconds
    • Supports all PCs and laptops running Windows 8.1 or later
    • Supports Bluetooth mice, keyboards and gamepads
    • For best quality/latency, a wired computer with a 5 GHz Wi-Fi is recommended
    • Also works over the internet (enable UPnP on your router)
The app is actively being developed. Currently working on the following features:
    • Support for 3D Side-by-Side / Over-Under content on screen
    • Ability to cycle through your monitors (if you have a multi-monitor configuration)
    • Videos Tab which will let you download and/or stream 180/360 videos directly from your computer

Wait, you never mentioned the rift is compatible, but the title said so? I know, both the quest and rift s are launching, but it's a great opportunity to get a cheap rift. I'm just wondering, can I play this on my rift?

It's not 2005 anymore. That time is over since long. There's absolutely no diff between MacOS and Windows 10 anymore. It's only a matter of preferance nowadays.

Can anyone tell me if running games here makes them 3D in the oculus go? I’d like to play simple games that run fine on my older laptop in a virtual desktop mode and be able to get the 3D experience of a 3D monitor through the oculus Go or oculus rift. Tho my laptop only has a GTX 965m... I don’t want the full VR motion control experience, just a 3D normal game experience.

Virtual desktop junk. I watch Ghost in the shell and I want to pull up multiple monitors up to 40. If I want to monitor multiple apps, I want to be able to expand as many monitors; if I want without having the need to be restricted to my video card. I want to be able to watch the stock market as it moves, connect to Outlook and pull up my messages in separate windows, type messages, Work on documenting information from an excel sheet, Monitor my network connections status, Watch a video, Watch multiple tv channels, Monitor my computer status, etc.
Otherwise, this is just glorified crap. Yea, this is only 15 bucks but I already got an Oculus home that pretty much does the same thing. So I really don't care to get this.
If you are going to build a product, at least be better then the original.

Sorry for the late reply but if you have buffering issues it’s a likely due to not having a wired computer and not using a good 5 GHz Wi-Fi as recommended. Reach out to me through the website chat if you need more help (

You can put Windows 10 on your Mac with Boot Camp.....then install this on the "windows side" of your mac.
Trust me its worth the process, I use a 55 inch Philips 4K Tv for a monitor but i enjoy the pc through the headset way more. Go figure.

First thing Oculus exceeds in except the Vive because of the way tracking is handled. This way you also bypass oculus' disadvantage of it's free move capabilities and it's small tracking area. But It's unfortunate that you are then forced to stay in 2D. If you then could act as an 3d output for 3d video display and games that support it (for 3d monitors) this will again be a selling point for the oculus compared to the vive

I don't see the pointless unless that virtual desktop moves with you, or just create a whole virtual UI. You might as well be using a normal desktop in your normal room. The entire point of VR is to immerse users into a new environment/atmosphere.

    • DaveGX
      DaveGX 5 months ago

But the guy was looking around it as it were just another monitor. I mean it should be able to stay stationary with you if you get up to move anywhere. Otherwise, it should just be an entire virtual UI environment/atmosphere instead.

You can play the computer version on a flat virtual screen, which is streamed from the PC (probably also has a slight delay). Not the VR version. A VR game is a separate program and it runs on the headset's hardware in the case of Quest.

You can do just that with Oculus Go on Windows and probably soon on other OS too. You can also use it while charging so you don't run out of battery. For most users VR is much more than a monitor strapped to your face though, so calling it all nonsense with the caps lock on is kinda narrow minded.

I got severe social anxiety and can't wait for open world games and VR to improve further. But yes it's almost safe to say getting bigger monitors is not the future when everything shrinking in size. Some sort of comfy glasses will probably be the evolution of VR.

The UI really won't be much of a desktop, though. I imagine it would behave similar to what Micro$oft already has with HoloLens, where you can arrange apps wherever you like wether real or virtual environment, if it does that like the initial demo showed us. That plus the obvious touchy tools, gestures, etc.

    • TheUnknownD
      TheUnknownD 5 months ago

+Teodor Teisberg Yep! Especially when VR is a standalone headset. Quest will be the first VR Headset that don't require a pc. :)
More people are going to play VR which is going to be awesome! :D
For right now VR requires a pretty powerful pc (My pc ain't that powerful, GTX 1050 Intel I7 4790) games are blurry with very low resolution but they play fine for me but games such as vrchat are noticeable with its blurriness. (80% resolution playing it, Ouch)
