you know what, his theory was technically right. He thought the ending was going to not be what the audience expected and would probably change from the normal tone of the show. So you know what, good on you Mat. you did great!

I personally think the ending was alright, there are just some things I didn't like
    1. Bran is king. This literally doesn't make sense since he said he won't be king and then he says "Why do you think I came all this way" like seriously!
    2. John returns to the wall. I mean sure, maybe he feels like he deserves it but he doesn't! He should be the leader or at least stay in King's Landing or Winterfell because I mean who's stopping him?

This was the outcome I’d hoped would happen. Much as I loved The thought of Jon and Dany ruling side by side, my truest wish was for humanity to be purged by the Night King and begin anew in eternal winter. least we have Bran the Broken 🙂🔫

The stuff about the Starks only succeeding when they deny their House/identity is a complete misreading of the narrative. All of the characters do indeed go through a period where others try to foist different identities on them, but they ultimately reclaim those identities. As GRRM says, the Starks are the heroes.

Religion has been harping on pride for at least 2000 years now. It's hardly a theme.
But winding your way thru a complex world as a knight, could you tell the difference in yourself between pride and honor?

  • Crash103179
    Crash103179 2 months ago

Yes, GRRW maintained a theme of tearing down institutions. Try building a society without them.
The Citadel is an Institution. The maesters bring medicine and learning and hold the kingdom together with their crows. Where would Westeros be without them?

I loved GOT ending! Hear me out! Lol
    Breaking of the Wheel.
Dani's decent into madness was done over the course of episodes, since the beginning. Her speech about the breaking the wheel. How she kept making decisions using the wheel. How she was arrogant and that got both her dragons killed. How she was envious on Snows natural respected leadership. And how she burned varius..
Let me define what the wheel is. The wheel is ruling out of fear and birthright.
I loved her story because it's such a good tragedy.
We become fond of her at first. She overcomes her brother's tyranny. She becomes the mother if dragons and a Queen. She frees the slaves.
But from then on, she starts to rule out of fear, becoming the wheel she wants to break. John snow breaks it instead.
The wheel is people who use fear to rule and birthright.
John snow is not only seen as a bastard throughout the whole series (until the end) but commands natural respect and leadership.
That's why it's such a good tragedy at the end because Dani wanted to break the wheel, but she IS the wheel. Snow compromised himself because he broke the wheel, by using the wheels tactics: Assassination. That's why he's depressed and conflicted. He questions if he did the right thing, because he uses the wheels tactics to break it.
But if he didnt, then the wheel would go on with Dani as the mad queen.
    A terrible necessity.
Did I explain it well enough? because its so complicated, beautiful and tragic I don't think I'm doing it justice lol It's so beautifully tragic.
The dragon agrees with Snow by not burning snow alive but instead melts the throne that drove it's mother mad.
    That was just Dani's story.
You get into the starks story.
The starks were wheel breakers from the beginning. For the most part, they rule out of respect. But are killed off.
So you're on edge the entire series expecting anything. Expecting anyone could take the throne.
Then after everything, after snow breaks the "Dani wheel" heh
The starks are left to hypothetically rule the kingdoms, in turn breaking the wheel. In fact completely setting it ablaze. Because they each command natural leadership and respect. Not just birthright and fear.
Brahn being the king. Sansa, Queen. John snow, far north leader. Ayra, uncharted lands leader.
So it begins with the wheel breaking starks and ends with the wheel breaking starks.
You also noticed that the intro is a bunch of wheels.
It's an over all a masterpiece. Taking you through character journeys and growth, twists and turns. Having just enough magic but not too much.
I hope that explains what I mean. If you didn't like the GOT ending, maybe try and give it a second chance with this in mind. Because it really is a good story.
    Also please feedback? :)
I was also terrified watching the "zombie" war because that war was for the earth. If Arya didn't destroy the king...Whole world gone. I was relieved when Arya killed that frosty king lol
Raining blood and bodies everywhere. Fighting off your friends corpses. Fighting off dead dragons and giants.
It was terrifying to me lol Inwas satisfied and satisfied it was over too. Lol
