The last one should not have counted. Rams players came off the sidelines and onto the field during the play. You can see Bailey cut in front of them on the way to the endzone.

Saints players would have been doing the same thing (out of view) so the too many men on the field *Rule* would have offset the penalty thus allowing the TD to count

I understand the rule of touching the kickoff from out of bounds, but why doesn't the rule of bring the first to touch the ball after being out of bounds not apply? Is it because technically he's still out of bounds and never came back in? Or since he's out of bounds it becomes a dead ball out of bounds therefore the kick is deemed out of bounds therefore a penalty...

    • Holocene Event
      Holocene Event 18 дней назад

yes, ball is dead when the out-of-bounds players picks it up, this ends the play in a "null" state.

I didn't know that you could make a drop kick for an extra point? I thought that all drop kicks had been banned by the NFL years ago. I'm rather sure that field goal attempts by drop kick are still illegal by the rules. The longest field goal ever made was one by drop kick but I can't remember in what year it was made or by what team. I do. however, remember that it was made by the legendary Jim Thorpe. It was around 75 yards, as I recall.... give or take a couple of yards.

Can someone explain the last one? I don't watch football but I assume that either the ball wasn't touched by the offensive in the end zone (therefore not making it a touchdown?) or that maybe the ball has to go beyond the end of the end zone and since it never did that doesn't count either. Is that it?

    • sligen
      sligen 18 дней назад

I believe since the ball didn't go out of bounds it was a live ball. This probably was changed later on because this doesn't happen anymore, so he was able to run the ball for the touchdown and no one knew what was going on.

John 17:3 this means eternal life their taking in knowledge of you the ONLY TRUE GOD and the one you sent Jesus Christ...
Who is Jesus praying to and why does he say this person is the one and only who can be truly referred to as GOD? Then he mentions himself also so we know he's not talking about himself. Also at John 20:17 after he's been resurrected to spirit life he comes in human form and he tells Mary he's returning to her father and his father to her God and HIS GOD... and why does he at Matthew 27:46 address his father as MY GOD MY GOD as he's dying... if he's God then why does he have a God and if he's equal to GOD and the true GOD is his GOD then he would be GOD to the true GOD because they are equal. Remember he's resurrected when he's speaking to Mary so he's no longer a human but a spirit taking on human form when he calls GOD his GOD. Also confusing he says to her just like he's your father he's my father just like he's your GOD he's my GOD. Are we to understand that he worships GOD in the same way a human worships GOD. If this is all true then it's very confusing.... I will make this simple for anyone who will listen to JESUS... we could argue all day long that Jesus is or isn't god but the bible warns against getting bogged down in the disputes of men... so if you truly love Jesus then listen when he speaks at Matthew 24:14 where HE says there will be a preaching campaign that would be preached on the entire earth and then THE END would come... so find a world wide organization that is preaching about a future world after this one is gone... join it and preach... this is JESUS CHRIST COMMAND TO YOU... Here's a hint... JESUS SAID... they would be hated ( John 15:18,19) what is the most hated worldwide Christian religious organization on earth... EVERYONE knows the answer... Will you LISTEN to JESUS CHRIST COMMAND TO YOU?
    (Mathew 28:19,20)

Help autistic children...buy his breakfast cereal! Flutie Flakes!
It's a shame all the scandalous things N.E. has been involved in. Bellecheck is probably the smartest head coach in history...the Football coach equivalent of Germany's Erwin Rommel (aka the Desert Fox).
However, don't get me wrong...I am not a Pats fan by any means....I always hope to see someone beat them, I always root against them, but I respect their brilliant play calling, team discipline(when they're not cheating!) and teamwork.

  • MetalSandman999
    MetalSandman999 22 дня назад

#1 I agree, that rule is inherently flawed.
The reason there is a penalty for the kickoff going out of bounds is so the kicking team will work to make sure the ball stays in bounds. But they did that!

    • Nick Betsch
      Nick Betsch 21 день назад

I disagree. They didn't do it well enough. Both teams should be fully aware of how the rules work, and the place-kicker kicked it close enough to the sideline that the receiver was capable of taking advantage of that kick.

Am I missing something? Why did they do the drop-kick? What was the benefit of it versus a place kick?
Just for the Hell of it on his last play in the NFL? I could see that if they were way ahead with 4 minutes left. But they were down by six and they took that risk?

    • Gillian Orley
      Gillian Orley 21 день назад

+Nic Shannon That was the quarterback, Doug Flutie, who kicked it. The question is, why did they have him drop-kick it instead of having the kicker place-kick the extra point.
I realize they did not have the holder on the field, but that was intentional. They chose not to use the holder and and kicker and instead used Doug Flutie to drop kick it, but why?
I know this was Doug Flutie's last play in the NFL and they probably did it as a "tribute" to him to let him do something very unusual that hadn't been done successfully since the 1930s or 40s, but the reason it hasn't been done in that long is it is very difficult to do. Given that they were losing at the time, it seems an odd choice to take such a risk of missing the point even if you want to do something cool for Flutie's last play. I guess that's why they did it.

When I was playing the Video Games MADDEN NFL 2005 & 2006 and NFL QB CLUB 2002 on GameCube, my Custom Team Draft Roster Selection included Punters & Kickers that had Long-Range Kicking Ability within the First 10 Draft Picks.
60-Yard Field Goal Attempts was part of my Standard Gameplay Strategy.
I didn't use Star-Player Gaming Strategy. Everybody got a chance to be on The Field. Second-String Roster Players were assigned First-String Special Teams Positions. First-String Roster Players were Assigned to Offense Team or Defense Team.
Injured Players were Rotated to Last-Position Slots regardless how minor the injury is; thus, during a Game, an Injured First-String Offense Player could become a First-String Special Teams Player for that Game.
I also used the Custom-Formation Systems to create my Special Team Formations to be Offense Players Only (the Return Special Teams), and Defense Player Only (the Kicking & Punting Teams), Formations. Thus, my #2 QBs would be First-String Special Teams Players.
My Video Football Teams didn't have any "Cold" Players going into the Second Half; which, included my Kickers & Punters & Quarterbacks. If I did have an Injured QB, the Backup QBs were ready to go.
Yea...Video NFL Football isn't the same as Real Life NFL Football; but, 60-Yard Field Goal Attempts aren't Alien to me. Using a Kick-Off Formation for a Field Goal Attempt is.

I know a rule a lot of players don’t know. The goal line doesn’t end at the sidelines. You always see runners fighting the get the ball inside the orange pylon at the goal line - side line intersection, but in reality you don’t need to get the ball inside the pylon, you need to get the ball to the goal line before going out of bounds. For example, you could dive outside the sideline at the 2 and as long as the ball gets to the goal line before you come down out of bounds it’s a TD. Keeping that in mind actually widens the field by a couple yards on each side.

    • Trev Mac
      Trev Mac 5 дней назад

Actually the perpetual goal line around the world is no longer.. You are correct a few years back but the rule has been changed..If the ball crosses the goal line by an out stretched hand and it's outside the pylon it *no longer* is considered a TD

For those who argue that Seahawks should have run the ball, where would you have liked them to run it? There are eight defenders in the box against six blockers, and they have leverage based on alignment against a possible inside zone from shotgun. The previous play Lynch was stuffed by linebacker Dont'a Hightower at the 1 and the clock was running. Lynch has had trouble all year getting the ball in from the 1 yard line

To the best of my knowledge (and I stand to be corrected) the free kick after a fair catch has only been done successfully twice in the history of the NFL. The first was in a game in the 60s where Green Bay was playing Chicago. It happens to have been my father's first game as an NFL official. Lombardi sent his kicker out with seconds left in the first half and the kicker grabbed the tee. My father told him that the tee was not allowed and Lombardi, said "Yeh, that's right". And the kicker put it through the uprights for a field goal. The second time that I know it was done successfully was a couple of years later. This time it was Chicago who kicked the field goal from a free kick. And their opponent? Green Bay. By the way, it was a little easier then - the goal posts were on the goal line instead of the end line.
