Today I start the engine swap I've been dreading for months, by taking out the massive 6.0 W12 from my cheap, $11,000 Bentley Continental GT. I hope you like montages. Thanks to Ferrparts for coming through with a great low mileage engine!

Has your Bentley been abused? I’m asking for a reason, I was under the impression the Brits produced a good car.

Ok this is what I am wondering.....why didn't you pay to get it diagnosed. Not fixed, but diagnosed. Then perhaps it could have been an easier and cheaper fix. I mean it is your car and obviously your money so I am not tripping. Also, judging by the debris underneath the car it was road hard and put up wet. Adding what I know about VW electronics I wouldn't have been surprised if the source of your problem was something electrical that had gotten wet and stopped working. Edit: Yea I see you found it....electrical.

The amount of heat from those un-insulated turbos, has got to produce an astonishing amount of heat to stay in the engine compartment. With everything so crammed into such tight quarters and being almost completely coverd(probably), has got to contribute to a ton of these problems you encountered. How many miles on this glorified VW junk?

I once saw one taken apart at my mechanic and the metal used to cast the block has a slight blueish hue to it!

IMO these things have new technology just barfed into them, they're meant to be assembled once, and discarded once the new yearly model comes out. These were never meant to be maintained or last.
