The dash 1, 2, 3, 4 is the same dash as a fighter jet, it’s not style, the guy took the dash out of a plane.

Doug: "...Vector only made about 20 of these..."
Also Doug: "...most insane styling of any car ever to reach production in the entire history of the car industry."

    I wouldn't say that 20 is a "production car."

Good point. Maybe he is using it to mean anything that went beyond prototype.

The Corvette at the time had electronic display and Honda had a screen that showed opened doors and trunk. American cars had great air conditioning back then. Badges, I don’t need no stinking badges.

Aircraft circuit breakers, hobbs meter, whiskey compass, aircraft wemacs (air outlets,) aircraft lighting, and aircraft encapsulated control buttons. These are all parts I see on a Learjet! Yes, this car has an aviation backbone and I'm sure half the electrical could be bought off an aircraft parts website! They probably all have aviation part numbers. What an automotive/aviation fusion!

  • Luke Cole

All those “buttons” behind the steering wheel on the left are circuit breakers. We have them in airplanes, basically when there’s a short, it will pop out and you can pop it back in.

A gearleaver between the driver and the driverdoor, is also done in the original Ford GT40... The mirrorcontrols are in the drivers door in modernday cars.

what a very slow slurry way of presenting this video... was bored after 12 sec.

I think the placement of the lic plate was on purpose. They seem to be going for unique all over this car so that would make sense. Same goes for the badge.

Definitely quirks aplenty but it was basically the 80s. Personally I think the car looks awesome, the outside styling is retro badass. Id drive that thing, sounds like it fucking moves would get more looks in that car than ANYTHING on the road today.

Not even close to craziest. The Cizeta-Moroder V16T with a bespoke v16 engine wins this class eazy.
But of course the Vector is up there in top.

doug we love you but your such a doofis. lol of course the ac works its a GM based system. the missing button on the column was for the OEM four way flashers, likely turned to the on position so the aero cockpit looking button could be created, Probably had a dummy cover over it originally. my guess is the column is from a vett or a camaro. a true wonder of off the shelf gm "stuff", LOL.. that engine being transverse mounted is an interesting head scratchier as to which trans was used "325 from an "A" body maybe. The drop head lights are reminiscent of the BMW 850. as for badging it's unique styling is all the badge it needs, after all if the mona lisa was driving down the road most people would recognize it (or in the case of the modern citizens a picture of Alfred E. Newman LOL). either way the Twinturbo badge looks like GM input. We've seen those 80's 90'S GM stuff with a body side molding that looks like side bumpers on a Sea-ray with letters boldly stating the car has a set of brakes. "ABS". LOL the board of directors were so proud. No small wonder Theirs no longer an Oldsmobile "gasp gasp" Aurora or the performance division Pontiac. to their credit the hammer did produce the SS Impala. the worlds fastest Taxi Cab. My 79 camaro had the rt side tag in front my '66 econoline (Facon station buss) does have it rear tag on the left rear door. maybe that's the styling que they were going for. after all like a real car the van has the key on the left of the steering wheel. Genau wie echt frisiertes auto. laut lachen.

de Muro needs to have a look at de Tomaso (preferably Mangusta) because noone dose crazy better than Italian supersport cars from 60-80s.

As for crazy car dessigns that made it to production:
Lancia Stratos (for its time complete jawdropper),
    Tatra 77,
    Sherp ATV

Seen an early version of this car, don't remember exactly but I seem to recall it as the "Vector W2"? back in the 1980's at laguna seca raceway while there for a IMSA GT race. The Vector was having an issue with the de-Dion tube on the rear suspension, it was cracked. They had to find a racer with a welder to try and weld it up. I remember it was vary impressive at the time. Hope they eventually replaced the de-Dion tube with a better design rear suspension.

Next time, just wait for another opportunity.
