i love your acting channel you are very helpful and i want to be an actress when i grow up

  • Josh Shipp
    Josh Shipp Month ago

Hello, my name is Joshua Shipp and I am 26 years old and I live in Omaha Nebraska. I first became interested in being an actor when I was 14 the end of middle school into high school. When I was little I would always be repeating lines off of T.V Shows and movies and I would even quote whole entire scenes. I also remember my dad telling me you could be an actor. I was part of two plays while in high school but I wasn't on stage I was spotlight operator. This is something I am really really wanting to do 150% and it is really really what my heart desires. I haven't done it yet because I didn't know where to really start, but I do know some things about it. I know that when you are acting or being an actor, you are pretending to be someone who you are not, but at the same time you have to be yourself. I know that you have to learn to be rejected. That is just part of it you have to learn to be continuously rejected and you can't let it get to you. I know that Actors work massively hard day after day and its a lot of hard work but its also fun. I want to be an actor because I want to just act, I really really love to travel, I want to keep on meeting new people and meet other actors and work with other actors. I of course would be working with other actors but I love to meet new people, and I love animals and you get to work with animals, and I also would love to eventually work with animals in movies. I do believe I have found a definite start to where I'm wanting to be I will be registering at Metropolitan community college for Theater. I will be doing everything I can step by step and I will do anything and everything that I need to do to become a big actor. My goal is to eventually go to Los Angeles and I have never been on the west coast.

Kids should look for beginner youth acting classes, youth comedy improv classes or summer stock programs at community theatres. If you’re a beginner of any age it’s best to find a community theatre that offers classes and puts on full seasons of shows. You could find decent affordable classes and also have access to open auditions. Most important for beginners is to get stage experience with community theatres. They hold open auditions, usually anyone can walk in, no resume or experience required, you sign in, fill out some paper work and take a number. Sides are usually provided. Community theatres can vary in terms of quality but there are plenty of wonderful community theaters out there with great directors and people to work with. Actors may play dream roles in community theaters they may never have a chance to play in the future. You’ll get audition experience, experience working with a director and cast, character development etc. You’ll get a variety of essential experience auditioning, being cast, going through the rehearsal and tech process, closing and strike. So important to get that experience in community theatre. Don’t try to find an agent if you don’t have a solid amount of performing experience and training. You have to be patient and start from the beginning. You shouldn’t even be thinking about agents until you have at the very least 4-5 years of quality experience you can get through community, regional theatre and classes. Develop your craft and your body as an instrument, focus on the art and not signing a big contract. So again, for beginners, community theatre and classes, essential.

Alright, So I found some top agency's in Germany, EMAIL first, give them about 2-3 weeks to reply and if they don't reply go ahead and call the agency and ask if they know of any acting classes near you. Don't sign with these manager or agents right away, and of course if they ask for money SKIP. But you will have to pay for classes. Some of these websites are in a different langue's so if you see a resources tab click that.

Also, at a audition do they keep your resume and headshots and what happens if they give them back at the end does that mean they don't want you for the part. And can you audition for a part and they want you for another part

    • Elijah Richard
      Elijah Richard 9 months ago

TheMadHatters Yes, they keep your headshot and Resume. But they don’t never give it back from my past experiences. But I’m sure they keep it for future jobs or something.

  • TheMadHatters
    TheMadHatters 10 months ago

So when you go into an audition and they want you to do a cold reading are you allowed to ask for a few minutes to read over it or should you not. Also If you make a script and you start casting id want to audition. Also if you were an understudy for a part in a play are you allowed to put that on your resume. And I just got scenebot

I love acting and my parents let me join backstage, I’ve had it for about 3 months and no one has invited me or even when I apply I don’t get a call back. Where I live there isn’t a whole lot of community theaters that do kid plays and I’ve only been in one play but I have done a lot of work behind the scenes for plays. We can’t afford an acting agent right now because of a stupid law suit and my parents think I have talent. I just am lost and I don’t know what to do from there. I just want to get my acting career started at 12, which is my age and I love performing I just need help.

    • Dess
      Dess 8 months ago

OkamiWolf the one I took was a cold reading class. So basically in the beginning of class we were given a script and had a few minutes to look over it. And then eventually we all had to go up in front of the class and act out the scene. Cold reading is when you don’t have time to prepare/memorize

Film acting would be better (in my opinion) because it is pretty much one big rehearsal, you just repeat lines over and over again and don't really perform to anyone, should probably get a few stage performances under your belt first or a few years of experience until you're confident enough get to doing film acting auditions. Good luck!
