Regarding the "half portion of guac" I would actually recommend not doing that because they charge you the exact same amount for a little bit of guac as they do for a full serving of guac. My suggestion is to get the guac on the side and then add as much or as little as you want and maybe even share that "on the side guac" with another person to save money.

or you can just order a bowl like the one she showed and split it with a friend (don't get chips of course)

If you get a veggie salad like the one that was shown as healthy meal #2, the guacamole is free!
I usually prefer making my Chipotle bowls at home. That way I can control how much salt goes into my food, I can use lactose free cheese, plain Greek yogurt instead of sour cream and also I can add as much guac as I want without being charged extra lol

My fiancé works at chipotle and you basically guessed the dressing. It's technically honey and not white sugar. I love that they have the macro calculator! It makes going out to eat so much more manageable! Also, for me I tend to be sodium deficient because I drink at least two gallons of water a day, eat clean at home and workout at least twice a day so the extra sodium is actually very helpful for me! Lol

Honey makes sense! Still, it ends up to be quite a bit of sugar for a dressing... I agree with you- I wish more places provided a calculator like this! It would really help people not only with choosing but learning to make healthier choices!

Loved the video! I might actually get the burrito bowl later today. btw, the crispy tortillas are WORST if one gets more than two ingredients on them. They get soggy and well, it turns into a burrito bowl.

As a vegan who is also a Chipotle employee, I can assure you that all of Chipotle's standard menu offerings are vegan excepting the meats (chicken, steak, chorizo, barbacoa, carnitas), the dairy (sour cream and cheese), and the vinaigrette (honey is used as the sweetener). Everything else is suitable for a plant based diet.I would also highly recommend the sofritas. It's our organic tofu, cut into cubes and fried, then shredded and braised in an adobo sauce with peppers, garlic, and onion. It is SO GOOD.
"Fab Lunch" has a DIY vegan chipotle bowl on her channel and it is so delicious and easy to make
Check out Supreme Banana, she makes a lot of videos of veganized fast food, which isn't quite the same, but could be adjusted to meet your needs!

Chipotle is definitely a go to for me! One of the best places I always have left-overs for. And if you don't get meat or sofritas then the guac is free.

Thanks for making a video like this! I watched your sushi and panera videos a few days ago and loved them as well! I've been counting my calories on and off for the past 15 years or so. I also do it to make sure I'm eating foods with enough Iron, Fiber, Calcium. Sodium is important, too. Every time I eat out (or eat high sodium foods: olives, frozen meals, etc) and my sodium level increases, I feel it immediately in my gut- it just expands like crazy. It makes me retain water, of course, so I'm stuck drinking water and having to do exercises that help me de-puff.

Wow, inspiring video! This makes me want to meal prep my own bowls for the week. I'll just combine a salad and burrito bowl with white rice instead of brown, extra black beans instead of meat. Prep each gauc the night before and I have food for the whole day. Now I just have to figure out how to make my own sauce and this meal will have very little sodium.

My favorite order at chipotle, which is also on the healthier side, is a bowl with sofritas, brown rice, black beans, fajita veggies, green chili salsa, and romaine lettuce. It’s a total of 530 calories, which isn’t that bad!... Plus, I mostly eat only half of the bowl in 1 sitting. Give this order a try.... ESPECIALLY if you like some spice 😏😉
Loved this! I work at Chipotle, and people always come up and ask what the healthiest options are (especially when it comes to rice), to which I say "It depends on what you want and need!". Thank goodness I watched this video before my planned trip to Chipotle tomorrow. I'm currently trying to eat healthier and this video makes me feel better that I split my bowl into 2 meals instead of one! Tomorrow I will be making healthier choices, except for my usual double black beans and no rice. I can't go without my black beans!
Great video! Always well done just cant imagine the amount of work that goes into each of your episodes! I'm Vegan and when I treat myself at Chipoltle, I can't say no to the guac! I find if I eat there for dinner, Im waking up in the middle of the night chugging water. Hello sodium! You've encouraged me to play with their online calculator. I'm very curious about the sofritos. Up here in the PNW, we have a great chain called MOD Pizza. I think they are in areas on the west coast. Thought I'd throw them out there as a sugestion. It's kinda like a Chipoltle for pizza! Customer decides on toppings and they fire brick oven bake it for you! I go cheesless and load up on veggies and add some chickpeas too when I go there. They have diaya but I skip it just because I'm not a fan of most faux cheese. Minimalist baker has a fantastically easy vegan parmesan recipe.

Great video! There is just one tiny misconception with the kids meal. While you can certainly order the kids meal in the way depicted, it is highly cost ineffective. The standard build your own comes with 3 fillings or 2 with a choice of meat or guac. Everything else can be purchased as a side item (most cashiers will do one charge of sides for the all of the sides desired). Additionally, the combo of guac and meat would result in the guac being charged as well. Btw if you are wondering how I know this, I'm a manager at chipotle currently. Other than that everything was so spot on it was amazing!!!!

Great educational video! Thing I like about Chipotle is that even though it can add up quickly (which really didn't know until I watched your fast food video) most of the ingredients are whole and pretty good for you. I prefer that over a lower calorie McDonalds meal personally. Also, you can get half rice?

The other day, I was explaining to a friend why I meal prep most of my food and prefer not to eat out too frequently, and they asked me "why don't you just get the healthier options?" and this is the perfect example! Even when you do get the healthier options, you're still not being as "healthy" as you could making a burrito bowl at home where you have control over the sodium and other things going into your meal. I work at chipotle and eat it about 4-5 times a week. To keep the sodium down you can ask for plain brown rice and plain tomatoes which both have no salt! It’s a great way to help.
Oh wow, this was so informative! I never think about sodium, I'm shocked at how much the salsas have in them. I usually get the sofitas bowl and think I'm being really healthy. I'm def going to start getting the kids tacos instead. I can get basically what I usually get but for way less sodium that way. I never even finish the bowl anyways. This was super helpful!

I love this thank you very much for your hard work to put this together! I cook most of my own meals even "restaurant favorites" at home but occasionally as a family we are out and about and to eat out is the easier option. This really helps. I often ask for less portion sizes than what they so heavy handily plop on my plate and they look at me like I have two heads! My health is important. I have lost 25lbs just changing what and how eat. focusing on lower calories,carbs,sugars fats and cholesterol. Your channel is right up my alley!

I love this! I think we have all fallen into a trap with thinking "healthier" fast food options mean the food healthy, when in reality it can be just as bad as going to any other fast food place. I am so glad that more places are making the nutritional values available. I have quickly learned what I am comfortable eating and what I'm not. Once I figured out that my typical order at a Chipotle type place was around 800 calories, I quickly decided I could do better.

Love chipotle, it's the most well rounded nutrition for a good price. I always get the bowl with just about everything and no chips or drinks ( I skip the stir fried veggies though, they're always with bell pepper and I can't really stand the taste haha). It then becomes two meals so I have less to stress on and more time to do what I gotta do.
Splitting the meal in half and saving half for later is a great tactic!
I love how this video is focused on FUEL. Balancing the nutrients so you take in what you need in order to not feel hungry. As opposed to the mainstream way of thinking where people will say "rice is just bad don't get it cuz carbs are just bad" for example. Very informational
Since I love their vinaigrette and it adds a lot of flavor to the dishes, a helpful tip is to either drizzle a little portion onto your bowl, cover and shake. OR just dip your fork into it first, and then into your salad :D still get the flavor, but it's not saturated! you'll cut out well over half of the dressing, and still get flavor in each bite.
totally an option! I find there is plenty of flavor from salsa and healthier ingredients, so I skip out on the dressing all together :)
I love my veggie burrito bowl! Brown rice (half the normal amount), double up on the veggie fajita, black beans (they've told me the pinto beans are cooked with some animal fat), and now I'm bummed about the amount of sodium in the fresh tomato salsa. :-(

The essential amino acids only found in meat and the complete protein thing is a myth and was debunked a long time ago. Incomplete protein is not a concern for anyone eating a varied diet regardless of if they're vegetarian, vegan, or omnivores. I mean, where do you think cows get their protein from? They get it from plants. Also who cares if the oldest living lady ate eggs and bacon everyday? Probably so did a lot of people who died early. She probably would have lived as long without the eggs and bacon everyday. The person who holds the record for longest confirmed lifespan (Jeanne Calment) smoked everyday. Are you going to claim that's healthy too?To sum it up, maybe don't comment on someone's vegetarian/vegan diet. It does not effect you at all and their diet is not a attack on your own dietary preferences, so there is no need to get defensive.

So one batch of salsa makes two deep pans (the pans you see while we serve you) and each of those pans GETS 6 TABLESPOONS OF SALT .. isn't that nuts 😔 so in a batch of four it's about 24 tablespoons of salt
Just so you know the pinto beans are completely vegan (I’ve checked on their website before for myself) so they are not fried in animal fat (ps if your vegan or just health conscious avoid the McDonald’s fries they are fried in animal fat 😊)

Moe's is my absolute favorite place! I can get a 10-inch burrito with steak, pinto beans, diced tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled green peppers, shredded lettuce, pico de gallo and sour cream for just 427 calories! It also has 29 grams of protein! 670 milligrams of sodium, which I personally don't think is *too* bad as I only drink water - and a lot of it.Thank you for this eye-opening video!

Thanks for this!! We eat Chipotle often because of their fresh ingredients and options. We're on the Ketogenic Diet so we go for higher fat, moderate protein, extremely low carbs (and on,y from veggies). We need more sodium (3,000 mg per day) than others because of the nature of our diet.

The amount of sodium Chipotle uses is the reason I won’t go there anymore. It was causing me to have high blood pressure. I don’t workout everyday. Just 5-6 days a week:)
The Viet Vegan I work @ Chipotle and we get fresh tomatoes + put in 2 tablespoons of salt per batch, I usually put in less. I don’t believe it’s actually that much. as someone who works there + makes the food, I have no idea how we squeeze in so much sodium
The fajita burrito was my go-to item years ago, but when I discovered their calculator I switched to a veggie salad. It's still very delicious and I look forward to having that as a treat. Also, my kids share it with me so it helps me keep my fat and calorie intake down.

For me probably for a different reason than for most people though :D I very rarely eat out because I am quite worried about getting unnecessary 'bad' things into my diet. I don't really enjoy other people preparing my food because I prefer to control what goes in. And restaurants like Chipotle are always a No No for me. But here I see that even here you can make great choices. And the tip with the kids menu is actually great!! :) As I said, very helpful and can't wait to actually go and testing it out

I usually order a veggie bowl (I’m vegan) lettuce, rice, black beans, fajita onions(no green peppers) - I ask them nicely to just pick out the onions. Pico de gallo, green salsa, lettuce and guacamole. Sometimes I have lettuce with the vinaigrette. I try to stick with the brown rice and it’s not easy I love the white rice. Wow!! The tortilla has that much of the bad stuff!! I’m amazed at how much calories and sodium all this stuff has. Thnx.
I always get a bowl (without the rice) that includes: black beans, chicken, pico, lettuce, a little shredded cheese and corn. 👌🏽👌🏽

I love chipotle and this is a great informational video! I usually order the sofritas so I wished you would have mentioned that in this video and your thoughts on it. But thanks for sharing!!

So glad you found it useful, and you can of course use the info I shared to check out the rest of the items to decide for yourself :) I don't personally love tofu and try not to consume as much soy, but sofritas can be a fine choice! They do have the most fiber which is nice. It's good to notice too, however, that they do have the most sodium and fat other than the Chorizo and it doesn't break down if it's unsaturated fats so we don't really know where the fat is coming from.
My usual chipotle order goes 3 scoops of rice, 2 scoops of black beans, extra veggies, chicken (sometimes double), 3 scoops of hot salsa (rip I didn't know the sodium content), cheese, and sour cream with 2 tortillas on the side. It makes 2 decent sized meals and is great post or pre gym, especially for those that struggle to eat enough. You could make it much healthier by not getting cheese and sour cream, but I can't help myself lol
I track all my macros and this video just made me realize that I can have 2 tacos at chipotle. YOU'RE A LIFE SAVOR.
I also think the best thing about chipotle is even if I’m getting a 1000 calorie bowl (which checking it out now, I only do about 700 calories) I NEVER eat a whole bowl at once. That usually my lunch/dinner. You get a hell of a lot of food at chipotle for the price, and it’s usually a meal and a half or two.
Those healthy options look SOOO good!!! Wish Chipotle was in Ireland! 😔💕

As someone who orders kids meals all the time at Chipotle (for my kids), it's not like ordering a regular meal. You only get choice of rice, choice of beans, and choice of meat (or guac as sub for meat). Three specific options, and some places are stricter then others. From an employee, I can tell you exactly what is in the vinaigrette. It may seem unhealthy by the numbers, but our ingredients aren't too bad. We use 1 1/4 cups of red wine vinegar, 3/4 cups of raw honey (so at least it isn't processed sugar), 1/4 cup of water, a little less than 1/4 cup of salt, a couple tablespoons of black pepper and oregano, and 1/4 cup of water. This all gets blended while you add about 32 ounces of rice bran oil slowly to emulsify. And rice bran isn't the worst. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the recipe! It's a lot of oil and sugar, even if it isn't processed, that sugar still isn't doing our bodies any good, and the amount of oil per serving is more than we need. It might be cleaner, but it's still providing a lot of excess energy through calories and fat that we could consume more nutritiously elsewhere.
No wonder that dressing tastes so good. I don't really worry about calculating macros anymore. My stomach is so small these days I find it better to get higher fat items and skip the starch. Since I also use salsas as dressing I just use a little of it anyway because it gives a great tang. And yeah, one bowl is ALWAYS two meals for me and I usually wind up throwing out part of it.

I don't personally track macros, but I have shared some what I eat in a day videos in the past, including what I eat when going out :) I also do have a similar video for Panera, it's quite old so the quality is not as prime lol but it delivers the information :) It's linked in the description of this video.
As someone who has to limit sodium (it messes with my vertigo), I'm always amazed at how much sodium fast food and restaurant food has. It's just incredible. I know salt adds flavor, and it's cheap, but holy crap it's in everything.

I don't get Chipotle often, but when I do, I always end up getting a burrito! Sadly, I always forget about sodium intake while I'm eating out. I should probably keep an eye out more often! Thank you for reminding me! :)

I always get a burrito bowl with whatever I want (usually no sour cream/cheese) and then eat half of it and save the other half for the next day

I just went there for lunch. I always skip the cheese and sour cream and just do guac. Wow...I will never get the mild salsa again. Never realized how full of sodium it was. Chipotle is a hefty meal..but it keeps me full all day. Good stuff and definitely the best choice for takeout. Nice video :)

as a chipotle employee, i want to quickly mention the fact that you can order tacos a la carte! the classic kids meal only comes with 3 sides (rice, beans, meat, AND salsas) whereas you can get 1 or 2 tacos with whatever you want for only $3-6 for all that food!also, yeah. the vinaigrette is just oil, honey, and salt. people swear by it, though.

Chipotle's chips are WAY too salty for me, so I'm glad you said that as one of the things to leave out lol
samantha bednar I always say, if I add salt, there's nothing on it. almost everything I get at restaurants tastes way too salty for me. I'm just too sensitive when it comes to it. When I make fries at home, I don't even add salt to them.

I agree, even if it is tasty it is quite salty! They could still make great food with less sodium.
Before I really started paying attention to how my macros effected me, I used to feel really guilty about ordering at Chipotle. Then, I started looking at exactly what I was ordering. I always order a bowl with guac, chicken, and brown rice, which according to my macros (that of a highly active wheelchair user) is almost nothing. Thanks for the video!
