I haven't commented in a bit, but in this case I must give my 2 cents. Great news on the patreon and partnership announcement.
I have the Heritage Classic 114 and one up it's a dream, you could treat it almost as you would your Dyna in the turns.
However, 2 up for short (1 to 2) hours stock seat is OK. We bought the Harley Hammock and have done a 10 hour day comfortably. My wife and I are 420lbs together and the bike does occasionally bottom on some hard bumps-full preload. With the two of us the bike is almost overloading the rear suspension with all bags empty. Adding a Progressive Suspension rear shock with the heavy duty spring option is my next upgrade for a better two up ride.
If it were not for the fun I have one up I would have gotten the Road King instead. I find the Heritage more "flickable" of the two.
You have a hard choice ahead of you BnB.
p.s. but now I'm eying the Road Glide. First world problems.

  • Jeffxdb _

I'm partial to the Street Bob. But if you absolutely had to trade it in my choice would probably be the road glide. I like the idea of the fixed fairing. Seems like it would handle much better at lower speeds than having that big fairing with all of the electronics in it attached to the forks.

I was torn between the same two. I went with an vivid black 2018 RKS and did stage 2 with torque cam right outa the box. Absolutely love it, not regrets.

I've also been considering a 114 heritage or one of the touring special bikes. The Road King Special is probably my favorite looking of the three, but it's hard to give up my dyna that's already paid off. I am curious what changes come in 2019, so I'll be looking forward to those videos!

  • Tom rebel

For personal usage I wouldn't trade the Dyna in. For a channel like yours... I would. More content.

  • Lake Geneva48
    Lake Geneva48 10 months ago

The handling of the RKS is amazing. Make certain to try it on some twistys! Look at the torque figures, there is just 5 NM difference between the RKS and the 114 Heritage, add a lane splitter screen and you will have one hell of a bike! Wait for the new 2019 colours though...

  • nevillegreg1
    nevillegreg1 10 months ago

You will know when you're ready to change bikes. Wait till then. It may not be long from the sounds of things. I went from a Roadking to a Sportster set up for touring, then to a Triumph tourer. Guess what, I was ready to change bikes recently, I could have bought any HD I wanted, but went for a lighter bike, a 2018 Softail instead of a tourer - why, I was sick of a heavy touring bike and the 2018 Softails are so much better than the previous generations which handled like crap. But I think if you and Miss Bird are going to do some longer rides, then go for a touring oriented bike. You are younger and strong enough not to worry about a heavier bike. But 2 saddlebags ain't going to be enough, consider a tour pack as well, the largest you can get. Now, whatever you do, make sure the pillion seat is comfortable for Miss Bird and that a sissy bar and pad or tour pack is fitted for her back. Related to this, don't go for what looks sexy to you when it comes to a seat, go for what is comfortable for her.

A bagger would be a new chapter in the channel... sadly i do not see myself ever in a bagger... I truly dislike the looks and to be honest if i wanted to be super comfortable i would buy a gold wing! Hahaha! Just kidding! What does it matter what we like!? Buy the bike you want...remember that your channel might take a turn and you will get new subscribers and might or not loose some... from a sportster and dyna to a bagger is a jump! At the end of the day... we just wanna see you on two wheels! Hahah! Buy it!!!

  • Rennie Smith

Man either one of them bikes would be Awsome! I lean toward the road king special but that 114 heritage is bad ass! Ive rode both and it would be a tough choice.

Well being partnered with them is an opportunity people seldom get, so it would be a good time to trade in if you were going to. Also makes sense with the new job and the stability from it. Agreed on just doing one bike though, so might as well make it something that will tick as many boxes as possible

  • Scott Knutson
    Scott Knutson 10 months ago

Softail looks better in my opinion, and the center of gravity feels better to me. But the dual discs and hard bags, along with a better suspension (stock and aftermarket selection) for the road king makes it a better choice for what you’re looking for imo. I’m torn between an older road king and Electra glide for my next bike

I went back and forth between the RKS and Heritage myself. Ended up with a 107 Heritage and could not be happier with it. I’ve added the H-D TourPak to give my wife a better backrest and some extra storage. We also use the Hammock seat. A new shield and some fork deflectors and she’s perfect on the highway and around town.

I struggle between a Heritage and a Road King always knowing the Road King was the end game bike for me. Two weeks ago found a 2017 Road King for 16k, the deal worked, and now i have a Road King. I could not be happier! You’ll get a bagger and touring chassis without the typical fainting. Only reason I would feel I would “want”a fairing would be for the radio but that’s not something I’ve ever considered. But in the end it’s your ride your journey. Longer rides seals the deal for the Road King, can it be done on a Heritage sure but not as comfortable for you or the bike

  • Airborne 28
    Airborne 28 10 months ago

Stick with the Dyna and pay it off...
That's what I'm doing with my Sportster, and I have no problem taking that bike on a five or six hundred mile stretch or more. Yeah there's a comfort factor involved, but no matter what there will always be a bike better suited for one thing or another.
Honestly, if you're going to upgrade to anything probably go full bagger into a Road Glide, Street Glide, Ultra, etc...
    Just my opinion...
Good luck with the partnership though...

The Road King Special and Heritage are both great bikes. I think the Heritage would be more of a cross between the Dyna and the Road King based on the new suspension of the Heritage they handle amazing though the Road King is no slouch. I've found my Road King to perform and handle just fine for me and it keeps up with Dyna's no problem. Just wish it had the 114 but I'm sure that's coming down the road. Oh BTW, I'll take my Lane Splitter in Silver. ;-))

I recently purchased a new bike. I had a 2016 Fat Bob. I was doing a lot of 150 to 225 mile rides mostly on two lane mountain roads. I was comfortable to whole time, but I couldn't carry anything with me without wearing a backpack. I was interested in doing even longer rides including some overnights. I rode the HD Street Glide, Road King, and Road Glide. At first I was looking at the Street Glide but buffeting on the helmet was crazy, even trying multiple windscreens. Then I tried the Road King thinking I'd just ride without a windscreen except in winter. Same thing, buffeting of the helmet with the windscreen on. I had pretty much decided on the Street Glide and was going to do whatever mods I needed to to mitigate the buffeting. Told my salesman that I wanted to ride a Road Glide just to make sure I wasn't missing something as many people swear by them. 2 minutes into the ride, I knew I was a Road Glide guy. It's perfect for me! Rode 450 miles yesterday. Love it!

I’m in the same boat as you right now.... I’m trading in my 883 for... IDK🤔🤬😫 idk what to do... what to get lol but honestly you’re on a street bob. If it was a lowrider s then yeah you should stay with it.... the road king would be amazing for you

You said on the podcast that your dream bike is a road glide, if you were gunna trade in the dyna i would have thought you would have went for that.

Dynas get chicks and you already snagged a great one in Miss Bird. I vote for a bagger for more comfort on longer rides for you both. Then again I am biased since I ride one.

Not gonna lie it’d be pretty sick to see you start something new. I’m a dyna fan and I ride one too but it’d be interesting to see the direction you take with the road king

Two bikes is a good number if they're different roles. Dad pants bagger for commute, mid life crisis for weekend rompin. Plus that Dyna is piece of history now, good thing to keep in the family.Personally after having a '99 Valkyrie, I didn't want to go back to sub hundred horse power, so I'm setup with a '01 GL1800 and '05 Rocket 3. Cause you know if God rides a Harley, the Devil rides a Triumph. Great vids, great content, ride what you like, just enjoy the ride.

Dynas get the death wobble, I would trade it in for a Softail and chicano it out.

Idk man.. you're on one of the last of the Dyna's. Tough decision. I think I'll eventually want a bagger also but I'm trying not to ride them so that I wont like them & want one now. Lol. Good luck either way.

Awesome news. I love cowboys me and my brother have been looking for our first bikes and Roland has been nothing but helpful this whole time. They really make you feel at home there.
