There should be a line on what to add and take off from a laptop, imagine hundreds of tech consumers giving an opinion on a single laptop

Your timing is impeccable. Having been a fan boy of the Surface Pro since it came out, I've decided that an eGPU is mandatory to meet my needs. I want to be able to me kill some time with occasional gaming and be able to lug the machine around to meet my crazy weekly work travel. MS has dangled the Thunderbolt promise a couple iterations too long and I thought it was time to look elsewhere. Thinkpad Tablet X1 Carbon is interesting (having the Thunderbolt connection) it only teases a solution (wondering is v. 4 will hit the mark) . Your review of the HP confirmed my hunch. Save us Linus, you're our only hope!

I was considering this as a gift. I went into 3 different shops, and tried the trackpad. AND NONE of them had the issues you mentioned. ZERO dead real estate.
Or maybe they configured Microsoft Precision. Who knows. But no trackpad issues.

What I really like in hp is it's keyboard specially the right column for home, page up, page down......(in 13"/14") and the hp laptop design, but one disappointment in hp laptop is the "Processor" comparing to other laptop like dell (DELL processor clock is much-much better than the hp). And RAM which mostly support in hp is 2400 MHz or lesser (which suppose to be 2666 MHz).

I actually like having a thicker bottom bezel on my Dell 15" 2n1. As a college student that spends a lot of time studying in bed with the screen flipped back, this keeps the screen from being obscured. In tablet mode it also gives you somewhere to hold onto without touching the screen.

Has anyone had a problem with the quality of HP laptops lately? Not only had I had issues. I have had to send my computer in multiple times (the battery lasts less than 2 hours) for the same issue. Now, the new computer that I purchased has a different issue and has to be sent in for the same issue (keys on the keyboard fads in a very short period of time). This is beyond ridiculous. What's also absurd is; the computer came back black. I sent them a burgundy computer. If I wanted a black computer, I would have bought a black computer. They have not given me any reason to by another HP product, nor my friends, nor, my family. To add to the insult, this supervisor Mark asked me if I wanted to purchase an extended warranty. If anything, he should have been offering to extend the warranty for free instead of charging me. Totally disrespectful

I have just bought one of these and it's dreadful. Crashes constantly, the pen doesn't work properly when using Adobe Illustrator - which was the main reason I bought it! I have had to go back to plugging in my Wacom. I hate the power button too, I agree with that, it's a pain. But my biggest peeve is how is works or doesn't in tablet mode. : (

I have the previous model of this device, and as far as the trackpad issue goes.... I have had mine for about two years now and I have never noticed a single complaint that he mentioned, I have no palm rejection issues and ive never had any issues at all using the trackpad.....
how normal people use the trackpad should be fine with this one, I honestly don't know what linus was thinking in this review. Poorly done of him

Worst laptop i've ever owned. Should've listened to Linus before I purchased it. The keyboard begun to fail after only 8 weeks of light use. HP took it for repairs, free of charge as they determined it was a genuine manufacturing fault, and not due to accidental damage or misuse. Unfortunately, after waiting a week without my laptop, I found out that their service technicians are absolutely useless because when they replaced the keyboard they reassembled the laptop incorrectly and left HUGE gaps between the bottom plate and the base of the laptop with multiple loose screws, on top of that, there were HEAPS of scratches all over the laptop (mostly on the hinges) from where they had carelessly pried the keyboard off. I had to ring them multiple times over a week and talk to clueless foreign call center employees who REFUSED to replace or refund me for the laptop, but offered to pick it up and repair it AGAIN (are they freakin joking??!!) Luckily I was able to return it to the third-party store I bought it from for a refund after only owning it for 8 weeks. I've kept the photos of the laptop after their "repair" to remind me about how stupid they are. NEVER BUYING HP AGAIN.

The $800 HP Envy x360 is a better, cheaper laptop. It's got a ryzen 5 and Vega graphics (graphics are integrated though) it's got an awesome anodized aluminum finish and beautiful display. It's got a nice touchscreen, goes 360 degrees into tablet mode, and has Windows ink. I haven't noticed any problems with the trackpad and it's just a nice, premium, laptop

I recently bought this beauty and I'm loving it. The driver for the trackpad can be replaced manually. And the power button is conveniently hidden away. No complaints here.

Don’t buy! I have bought the 13” after 3 weeks started flickering and if you have experience with flickering screens on laptops/pads you will know this is a very expensive fix down the road. I swapped it with a brand new one after three weeks then two weeks later the new one did the same thing. It is a nice device if it works as it should

I just returned mine yesterday after the HP repair centre almost broke it while trying to replace a failing keyboard laptop after only 8 weeks. It has the worst quality control i've ever seen in my life. HP really fucked up with this one.

Thanks for pointing out the trackpad dead space- I now have another thing to test on new laptops. I just tried to figure out where that boundary is on my ASUS Zenbook UX350, and it's probably a millimeter or less along the edge.

13 is too small, 15 too large. You need a 14, like the one they made two years before these, I just picked one up for £44, screens cracked but I don't use touchscreens anyway.
