  • Every politician at the time made fun of the hippies. They were a large target for sure. Ronald Reagan kept pointing them out as there were many hippies presenting themselves at various kinds of political events in California while he was governor. #ronaldreagan

Most Americans hated Hippies, it's a myth that the hippie movement was a large movement.

You have to admit we wouldn't be where we are today with out him.
“All the waste in a year from a nuclear power plant can be stored under a desk.”
    -Ronald Reagan 1980
“It’s silly talking about how many years we will have to spend in the jungles of Vietnam when we could pave the whole country and put parking stripes on it and still be home by Christmas.”

Him and I are in agreement . ..33 yo here from canada that used to be into rap and baggy pants .
The 60s indirectly did more harm than good by far , I find it comical and hypocritical when former hippies (boomers) critisize things like baggy pants and irresponsible millenials who cant grow up ....is that you on acid, "saying fuck the man" , half naked gyrating in a pool of mud back , having group sex in your day ?...But yeah
we wore baggy pants 😂....this is why the right wing are coming back , people of my generation (30s) see a very obvious and clear wrong path sociaty took in the 60s and 70s and while some good came out of that time it set the scene that allowed the social degradation and and moral decline of today's youth and indirectly caused that baggy pants fashion (thst you all hate sooo much)to even come about . If things had stayed morally the same way as the 50s and before overall ...we woukd all be MUCH better off in both the family unit and in general civic and personal responsibility . The 60s and 70s ruined the western world, it's ok we will clean up your mess , why couldent you have been like your parents...you know the ones that literally won ww2 and ww2 put TVs in homes and a car in the driveway over almost every westerner and created the social reforms that allowed free education(for a while..which you boomers exploited and then now turn around and say to us that need to pay 40 grand to go to school to "get a job"..cant blame you .."free ride" right?"
Hope you enjoyed Jimi Hendrix ..cause we are now screwed out of owning homes or raising children properly ..and it will take decades to recover if thats even possible.
800 years building Europe and western society...only took 20 to irreversibly screw it up . 👏👏👏🙄

Pot shots at low hanging fruit from the man that would go on to helm the most criminal presidential administrations in the countries history. Look it up. Both Reagan and the hippies turned out to be *frauds*.

Hate is a strong word. In this short clip, he's showing disdain for a specific hippie's abuse of government aid, likely implying this was a common perspective among hippies, and certainly having a bit of fun at their expense. I don't know, is he on record as having said he hated them? This is a great clip, thank you.

Yes a few of them were weekend Hippies, or just going along with the flow. We had an awakening in Los Angeles during the 80's an were having Love In's an many of us were campaigning for change. After spending 5 Years being apathetic, I woke up after they murdered one of my biggest inspirations, John Lennon. I Became an activist an still today consider myself an aging hippie. No it is not about the drugs or sex.. We were aware of what was going on an wanted to help our fellow humans an help save this fragile planet.. Can be responsible an still believe in the dream. I recently made a video about 'Woodstock What happened to the dream?

Ya they lived off the backs of their parents GREAT generation ...you know the one that won ww1 and 2 and worked harder than any other?
Ya they had it easy ,very cheap education (free in the UK and other places) jobs everywhere, little to no education requirements ( my mom got a full time job in the government in the early 70s without a college education at 23 yo because she could type "70 words per minute"...lasted 35 years ...car, home , cottage , vacations ...70 words or minute ..lmfao the idea of this is like a far flung dream to us younger people ) and the degradation of sexual norms...now we have 12 yo .who dont even know if.they are boys or girls let alone.what non existent carrear path they want to take ,twerking with men at gay pride events.that look like the village people on really bad acid, like some kind of S&M nightmare parade and /of being prescribed depression and anxiety meds because they dont know whats up or down, right or wrong.. and wind up so.scrwed in the head they end up shooting up a school, hanging themselves or overdosing using prescription pills.they probably.have been put on since everyone is on something .. at unpdesidented rates. Great work.hippies aka boomers aka.traitors to.western civilization and imo and many others opinion deserving of a traitors justice ...yup I mean that . Bastards .

+staatsfeindlich I always admired both Thatcher and Reagan. My parents, born in 1898 and 1902, said there's only one right way to do something and if you don't do it like that you don't deserve to thrive and prosper. My father said you shouldn't make waves and rock the boat but pull yourself up by your own bootstraps. My mother lived to be 94 and in the last full year she lived, 1996, she had a retirement income of $39,000 which was comfortable. She said the most important thing is life is being comfortable and satisfied with what you have. If you're not comfortable with what you have, you're not going to be comfortable with what you get.

+staatsfeindlich He was optimistic and believed in the American people. So nice after ten years of double digit inflation, shortages, hostages and malaise. You're probably not old enough to remember him? And he remembered the 1920's!

Cheesy wheeler, you obviously have no idea what you are talking about. Regan was the best president this country has had since the 1930's. nobody has improved the life of the american people as much as he did. rich or poor, he made everybodys life better while he was in office.
