Reading the comments saved me, the 7" lens wouldn't loosen up. So I did what was suggested in the comments and drilled a 1/4 hole in the back of the lens and used my air compressor to pop the lens
I payed 22 Euro for mine.....ru-clip.com/video/FpBahSTuJiU/video.html
The packets in the lights are desiccant packs. They are for absorbing moisture. Usually discarded after shipment . Lazy Quality Control on their end.
Willbarrel Smith I think they are in there to absorb moisture during the life of the bulb. The problem is when the package breaks open due to bumps and vibrations and the white powder gets everywhere.
Hey man thanks for the tip. If you find America along the Mississippi River, the ride from Illinois/Iowa Area Bout Davenport north Ward into Wisconsin . Nice scenery and plenty of biker destinations.
Raymond Fink thanks- just got back from Tennessee/Kentucky should be editing video soon
Omg bro. Thanks for the fantastic vid. My light had the same issue and i ain’t paying another 600$! Thanks again.
I don't ride much at night so have kept the stock (glass) lights on my bikes. No clouding, still on the original bulbs. NO hassles. Honestly though, don't you feel a bit annoyed at paying high dollar for something that clouded up? Coulda bought Chinese for that and paid less $$
The LED.s are under the lenses, those are magnifying glasses.
Rod X they are one piece with the diode like the little led bulbs, the little glass looking piece is one piece with the bulb but yes they are what directs the light and gives it a beam effect I believe the term is optics.
HOLY CRAP SOMEONE SMUGGLING COKE IN THE LIGHTS!!
Rod X 😆
Same exact thing my did. Half the lens like yours. I went and spent 30 bucks on amazon replacements.
22 Euro... ru-clip.com/video/FpBahSTuJiU/video.html
pickitup both passing lights on Amazon. They work just as well as Harley’s. I’ve had no issues with them
anthony delgrosso what did you get for only $30
Dude you just saved me a grand ... my daymakers work, but after 55k miles on the beast, they are all fogged up. I was told they were not serviceable and had to buy new ones because the lenses were pitted from riding in the desert - and I see it's BS. I guess I know what I am doing tonight lol ... AGAIN thank you.
Pacific Tracy I haven’t done the main headlight but it looks like it should be the same construction. Glad it helped
just a question though ... the main headlight - did you do that one also? is it the same idea??
This is why you get the lights with in 60 days of taking delivery of the bike. You will be covered under your 2 year warranty ,or extended warranty .If not you only get a 1 year warranty on the lights.
This means they knew it had a issue.
My stock lights are all clouded up from the same garbage, but planning on Daymakers soon. I just moved down to South Carolina from PA. Come on down and ride ALL year long. The weather is absolutely beautiful. People here are great, too!
scroopit from what I understand JW speaker makes the day maker for Harley.
Thanks Duane. I'll check 'em out. Leaning towards the JW Speaker Evo2 at this point. It'll be a few weeks yet.
Harley has a brand new design for the daymakers on their parts page.
I had a problem but they replaced them at no cost. There was a recall back in 2009 ,so don't buy them on eBay etc. Some will cause your bike to catch fire .
scroopit as soon as I convince the wife
Good job and nicely done brotha ~ 👍🏼
Good info to know knowledge is power
Had the same problem and did the same thing but the main headlight glass cover would not come off So then i came up with the idea if I drill two small holes in the back of the bulb aluminium case maybe I could use air to blow the dust out, better than that, the air pressure popped off the glass cover and gave me a chance to clean the whole unit inside.
Did the exact same thing with my SunPie. Blast some air and BANG lens popped out. Cleaned it up and good to go. Wear a mask, these things are from China so that white stuff is cancer.
Nice ! Thanks for sharing the tip
Dude great video
hi i wanna do a collab with ya
i have 300 subs and iblive in NewYork
GET OUT OF NEW YORK STATE BEFORE IT'S TO LATE! LIFE IS A BEACH
Good find on the silica packets. I snagged the Amazon knockoffs and haven't had a problem so far, but it's good to know how to fix it if or when I do. Also, if you decide to find America down here in Tennessee, we have a 12 month riding season ;)
I'd be interested to know which part of Tennessee you live in that has a "12 month riding season." Here in Memfrica we had record rain and snow for at lleast 3 months.
I've sat side by side with Daymakers and can't really notice a difference. I will say that the knockoff stuff is almost completely plastic. Don't know whether the Daymakers are or not.
thanks for the input, did you ever compare the knock off's brightness with the daymakers?
