Nothing to do with this series but Chris please watch Vivarium it's a great sci fi movie. Yes it's like a 90 minute Twilight Zone episode but I don't think that's a problem because we get to know the characters much better.

3:10 It's in the end of the 16th century to the early 17th century. Post-Renaissance. That's why we see gunpowder weapons being used in Season 2. *[Spoilers]* Lord Ahn's victory in Sangju where Lord Cho presented him a "way" to defeat the Japanese is during the Japanese invasions of Korea (1592-1598) - there are two Japanese invasions. There's a Korean drama (*The Jingbirok: A Memoir of Imjin War*) about that war if you're interested. It covered the political side of the war. I forgot the others that portray heroes of the Imjin War like Admiral Yi-Sun Shin

@Movies And Munchies yes. Before the end of jim crow, in the south, we had our OWN everything within the community. When we were allowed to work in white spaces and go to white universities, black businesses and colleges suddenly werent good enough. My generation and my parents generation felt other was better and ascribed to work for the man rather than to take care of our familys businesses. Then the asians took over those spaces without respect and loving us. We also started a black flight outside of our neighborhoods. Its sad, really

I minored in psychology in college and did quite a large semester paper on Freud. Although the events are not historically accurate, his demeanor and personal flaws are quite so. He was a cocaine addict who notoriously went on binges where he didn't sleep or eat in pursuit of his obsessions within psychology; his strained familial relationships, tenous status during his residency at the mental hospital and long and laboring engagement to Martha are also based in historical fact. I enjoyed this show very much and liked the mix of the supernatural, psychological, and crime story. I thought it was extremely well-acted and thought the cinematography and lighting really added to the feel. But to each his own, I suppose.

I can’t make it past one episode. I can’t stand a single one of the scumbags. They’re vile people. I enjoyed this series very much. The acting and attention to detail was incredible. Shira Haas and Amit Rahav gave unforgettable performances. I'm sure we will see more of them. It was a glimpse into a culture that is closed to outsiders, the Satmar jews are among the most ultra orthodox and the most insular branch. While the series deviated from Deborah's memoir it really is a story about a woman that is looking for a better life for herself.

  • Martha J

I agree with your rating and pretty much everything you said! I felt confused during this series. Perhaps, I was trying too hard to understand it? I'm not sure...this series became frustrating for me. It could have been so much better! Although I liked the main characters and felt invested in the mystery, I struggled to connect to the story. Something was "missing" for me. The pace became too slow for me as it progressed and the series overall felt muddled. The ending was certainly lackluster, compared to the build up. I can't quite pinpoint why I struggled with the show as much as I did. I did really enjoy the main character performances, the tension, and the overall atmosphere! I love how you thought of David Fincher! I can see that now! The dark, bleak asthetic is very similar! I love all of his movies but the ending of Seven takes the cake! I did read a review of a woman who was confused with this series and rewatched the first episode very closely and then things fell into place for her. Unfortunately, I don't feel compelled enough to rewatch episode 1. Recently, I have started several series and then stopped them because they just lost my interest. Frustrating! When the heck are we going to get Season 3 of Marcella? Seems like it has been forever! I also would love more Seasons of Black Spot but I don't know if that will happen. I'm currently catching up on Ozark Season 2 so I can binge Season 3!! I think you will enjoy Unit 42, La Chalet, and Tabula Rasa quite a bit!

I enjoyed that series so much it was entertaining, intense and very emotional. I'm Muslima myself. It's amazing how realistic they pictured life with IS. Of course all of the pictured Muslims in the series are no role models at all. In fact there was not a single one you can look up too. As well as these RU-clip "Imams" who forbid election. I had to shake my head at every single one of them but it's about the terror organization anyways. Most of us are living the Islam peacefully. So please don't mistake us.

Funny enough, my oldest son asked that exact thing. I'm not sure I'd compare them either. The one thing that stands out to me though is Walter had a choice. I guess Marty did too at the outset, but his was more a matter of life and death for his family...Walter's, while with good intentions at the outset, became pure greed. With the Byrdes, it feels more like their choices aren't necessarily their own. How's that for a non-committal answer LOL!

But I hate to disappoint you as to the setting - it's actually filmed in Canton, Georgia - not in the Ozarks. The Ozarks are extremely beautiful, and I wish they had filmed it here, but they didn't. My family has lived in the Ozarks since the 1840's, and I had to laugh a bit when I first started watching the show, as I immediately recognized that this was not the Lake of the Ozarks. But that is all beside the point as to the quality of the writing and acting - it's a terrific series. Two excellent films actually shot in either the Ozarks region or in northern Missouri, are 'Winter's Bone' and 'Ride with the Devil'.

Well that's good to know, but a bit disappointing. The scenery is beautiful...but now I want to see them shoot in the actual Ozarks!! I loved Winter's Bone...but I've not seen Ride with the Devil.

I came for a summation of the movie cause it looked too corny to give it two hours, but I was curious. What I got was this dude giving his VERY best impression of a first class, hen pecked, beta....sheesh. Then he comes with this “I think the monster represents politics” ass bullshit. I don’t think everyone in the back could quite hear you virtue signaling. Maybe you should try again in an even less threatening voice next time ok.......lolol

This show is an utter disaster; it's how a typical millennial sees history - as a story from a comic book. The characters oscillate between unrealistic and unmotivated baddies on the one hand, a mishmash of diverse-for-diversity's-sake ensemble of one-dimensional vigilantes (e.g. a Catholic killer-nun; why? Seriously, why?), and a weak, sniveling "hero" who doesn't know what to do with himself. Simply horrible.

From filmmaking standpoint Blumhouse's The Hunt is decent from cinematography, editing, music, action scenes, choreography and the acting all was decent. But from story, script, dialog and message it's just bad and sometimes unwatchable. The story and script is just bad and not funny and even if you take the story and ascript as a "comedy" it's not funny. From a message and the general meaning of the movie is MAGA Deplorables are actually decent people it's just different opinions ok! and if you really focus on the Deplorables you will see the characters for how they really are but you have to focus real hard because the characterization in the script is so weak on the MAGA people but strong on the "Liberals" side, strong in a way that all of them are stereotypical woke very sensitive paper thin people wich make this in the end a "MAGA Movie" that is filled by dog whistling to other Deplorables. Don't be fooled by some reviews that claim the movie jokes are "Takes shots at BOTH sides" or "Its making fun on both sides" just despicable to me and i can go on and on but i don't have time to spend to talk about MAGA Deplorables.

I think the two interpretations are not opposed. They both apply, actually. Sarah is at the same time suffering from mental illness AND abducted by aliens / time travelling. Her intuitions about aliens, in fact, seem to be more or less correct; on the other hand her intuitions are also influenced by the inputs she receives from the external world (Darren's clone, the homeless guy yelling about Satico Satelite, etc.) and in general she struggles distinguishing reality from her distorted thoughts (as evident in the final part of the movie). Is Sarah her grandmother? Most likely yes. And grandma in the end dies left out, because of her mental illness: Sarah's mental illness.

This was a pretty good watch. This kind of reminded me of " One Hour Photo" with Robin Williams in some parts of this movie; with the stalking and wrecking havoc on someone elses family. That perverted gardener, i'm sorry ... he got what he deserved what Javier did to him ( sicko) . I felt they missed a few opportunties with the near ending and the ending ; the ending was lacking of interest & could have been better . That was just too easy of a ending . But overall a pretty good watch. Thanks for the review.

Good review. The series was pretty authentic in its depiction of everything. Strangely enough the only thing I saw as out of place was Esti wearing these pre-war grandma shoes for her audition and beyond. Just didnt look right. PS. I watched it without any subs but understood most of it as I once came from the same background and speak the lingo. Shira Haas as Esti was always great, she also played a main character in Shtisel an Israeli series based on the Orthodox in Israel (recommended viewing), alas only 2 seasons were made.

Historically, the show has the scientific accuracy of "Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter". You do not care, which is your good right, and I bet, that I would have enjoyed the whole very weird horror story much more, if I didn't, either. But I live in Vienna and know one thing or the other about Sigmund Freud, the history of psychoanalysis, Viennese and Austro-Hungarian history, and I just could not help to cringe and cringe and cringe... But in one detail we absolutely agree: Georg Friedrich, the guy with the moustache, is one of our very best Austrian actors :-)

SPOILER ALERT The writing is seriously bad. I have so many comments on this but what upset me the most that Kauris innocence was implied (I can also imagine multiple scenarios how he could have gotten that video and started the fight at school without having been a part of the rape) but the writers never established WHY? (on whose phone did they find the original footage, who was the other guy in the red hoodie?). And also we're supposed to believe that a thirty something guy who was probably at the beginning of his career was so rich and powerful that he could incentivize multiple people to cover up for him and let him rape their children? (I mean they were sadistic assholes so them letting him rape the children at Valhalla for free wouldn't have been a surprise but their own children?) Why did this guy who was "so smart" and did everything to cover up his crimes leave marks on his victims so that they never forget him? That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Also the head of the police guy who also covered for him in the end led the investigation? Why? Until that moment he was under investigation himself. Without proof that he covered for the attorney General they wouldn't have had a case against Petur? Argh it could have been a decent experience but it wasn't really fleshed out.

    • Nadja K
      Nadja K 3 days ago

Also the financial trouble of the police guy stopped once him and his wife fostered boys (only boys). Did he want to save them from Petur? Did he just do it because he felt guilty for covering up for his rapes? Did he let Petur rape his foster children?

I was just astonished how much money these fucking people have. Carol pissed me off the most. Hypocrite as fuck. Has volunteers do all the work, not a quality park/cages, they're all rusted. She charges $50 a head (Joe was $15) and she literally did everything she complains about everyone else doing. I don't see a reason to ban these places. They're breeding endangered animals. Providing education, albeit limited. Now, they shouldn't be abusing them and/or selling the cubs but still. The idea of the park itself shouldn't be illegal. And limiting yourself to only rescues is stupid too. There are few natural habitats left in the world.

    • Mystique Darkholme

Jonny B They don't responsibly breed. The fact that these places ARE open makes awwwllll the abuse (and selling cubs and killing them easy) That law should be passed. All the big cat breeders in the show started doing it for the *money* That's it. Not out of love or conservation for the animals.

I've been following Big Cat Rescue for years and BCR sanctuary has huge spacious enclosures for the cats..Carol does organized tours of people to visit the sanctuary, I think it's like twenty-five dollars a person, because of the crazy amount of money it takes to care for these animals..the Vet visits on a regular basis and the quality diet and the amount of food these cats eat cost a lot of money..I'm just going by the years of watching the videos and the BCR website..I do find it kind of fucked up she doesn't pay the keepers, they work hard

    • cindylou
      cindylou 9 hours ago

@Mystique Darkholme Carol's sanctuary has to rely on donations to care for these cats..and NO she does not breed them because BCR does not believe in breeding the cats because that would mean the cubs would be subjected to a life in cages till they die..cats bred in captivity can't survive in the wild..all the big cats at the sanctuary are rescued circus cats and roadside zoo's..when a zoo tells you they breed for conservation, that's a lie..cubs grow up to live a life in prison

    • Mystique Darkholme
      Mystique Darkholme 11 hours ago

cindylou Sanctuaries have to come up with the money to care and feed their animals, right? That's not uncommon for non-profits. Plus, they aren't being bred
