      Whole Life Crisis Day ago

@imGenji THink of it like an email responder, except it's a prospecting tool. You set up a sequence of emails which go out on a schedule (or cadence), and when the prospect responds, the sequence stops and the sales person starts to work the lead. it's a feature of their $95/mo plan. At this price it's more cost effective to use a standalone program like woodpecker.co or mailshake.

Great video and content as usual. Being completely honest, I was surprised to see that what appears to be your HQ looking quite college (liquor bottles lined across the counter, little apartment, etc). Seems to diverge from much of your teachings (preparation, first impressions, etc). Clean it up friend.

Hey Steli, really appreciate all the A+ videos. Got a question for you: How do you sell a product in an industry where prospects don't feel like they need it? for example if im selling online ads for industrial companies, and they say "not sure why we need it, we find opportunities based on performance stats, relationship management, socioeconomic performance, safety stats and price. not sure why we need dig marketing" Is this handled by asking them questions that lead them to see how digital marketing enhances all of what they mentioned? would love to see your thoughts on this.

Hey Steli, great webinar as always. When sending follow-ups, do you recommend doing it in a way that creates a thread, like forwarding the original email? Or is it preferable to send a fresh email? I've heard some people say that creating a thread of emails is bad because it "just reminds people that they already haven't replied to you."

  • Indy Outsider
    Indy Outsider 11 days ago

One more thing. Don't ask permission. How do you need their permission to do your job? Example: Customer: don't send a salesman out here on a special trip. Caller: oh he's coming out, I just didn't want you to think he was out knocking on doors, you know! The YOU KNOW! Always gets a yeah. After all they don't want to sound stupid and say, no I don't know. But after they say yeah, immediately asked another question to get their mind off the objection, in to the next line in your pitch. Go ahead and set the appointment.

It's really great to hear someone teach proper cold calling techniques. I call the first step in cold calling, setting the tone. You set the tone of voice, speed, and loudness. But I don't agree with your asking people are they busy, or are you interrupting anything. Although a confident person can get away with that a lot, it does trigger a natural sales resistance. Someone like myself with almost 40 years experience can overcome it. But to teach others who are new, just saying hi and moving on with the speech is much better. Hi Frank, it's Mike hope I'm not keeping you from bungee jumping?( Haha) I'm over at ___ company, they got me calling you to if your interrupting a meeting or something trust me they'll tell you. And it's easy to say, okay I'll get back with you Frank.

One question that nearly always is asked."What do you do when you are behind on your target? or its "Friday and your behind on weeks target?". Now that's a tough one. You can't say "I'm never behind target". What about say "work extra hours, work Saturday and study your pitch to see if its good enough". I have been asked this in many sales interview pity it's not in your top 10 as it's a real curve ball. Honestly because I know there is salespeople who are never behind target.

On the topic of shortening the sell cycle... when Alex talks about selling them on a 1 month review package, would you say you try harder to get these clients more significant results on the first month to try to get them to upgrade at the end? I know there’s only so much you can do, so I guess my question is, do you feel more pressure to get them better results at the end of the month, opposed to your 1 year clients? Would love that 1-1 consulting call with you Alex! Awesome webinar, so much good content! Thanks to all of you!

"Is this a bad time?" The company I work for has a policy that prohibits us from using that sentence. In fact many people (myself included) have been written up for using that sentence and for agreeing to calling a person back later. Our job is to sell vacations for time share so people can go to the 2 hour presentation. I am required to sell you a vacation on that call. Unfortunately call backs are not permitted so if you are busy or don't have time or you're in a meeting or at work or whatever the excuse is I cannot set a call back. You either listen to me and buy on this call or you hang up on me. Sad truth but most companies are just like the one I work for with similar tactics. Over half the time when a person says call them back it is a way to get you off the line so you can leave them alone and when you call back you get no answer or straight to voicemail. Lots of good info in your video though thanks 🙂

    • ???A

I always get an impression that cold callers never get in trouble when they use unprofessional tactics. Sounds like the company writes you up only to teach you how it is like to be a cold caller. They want to train you to be in the shoes of the customers. They don't want to train you to lie on the phone just to make sales call. Considering that you are cold calling in the first place, asking for a do over is not even a good phone strategy to begin with. What if the company you work in does not write you up? You can get yelled at by your potential customer. Calling back would give potential customers an impression that you are trying to scam them. So in your position, you can get yelled at either way. If your boss lets you off the hook and does not yell at you, your potential customer can.

    • ???A

Technically, cold calling a person means there is no such thing as a good time. Once you dial that number, you are identified as an unwanted caller anyways. The answer will always be no this is not a good time. If you want a power to say this is not a good time, then you must not do cold calling. You got to work in a company where customers contact you and not the other way around. What if you work in the Credit Card company or work for Spectrum or AT&T? Customers will be there to catch you on the bad time. If you work in the company where customers needs you but you don't need them, your customer cannot say it is a bad time. As a matter of fact, customers have to be kept waiting on the phone. There is a good reason why that company cannot allow you to ask. Because this would mean that you gave up on cold calling. Once you cold call, you must learn to deal with rejection. It will always be your job to reach out while that caller won't accept you. Being a cold caller means it is your job to gain the trust. If you can't, it mind as well be same as forfeit. As for call backs, calling them back can be counted as begging someone to be your customer. Think as a cold caller. If you break that person's trust, you have to agree to take them off your list. Many cold callers breaks this rule by doing call backs only to piss that person off. That company you work in is trained to contact people the right way with only one shot. If you screw up, you cannot persuade. You cannot force. You cannot beg.

I need all the help I can get When it comes to speeding up my cold calls at work. I'm supposed to get them done in 1 hour but it takes me 3 hours. And I've been doing this for almost a year and I still get anxiety and that's why I drag them on. Makes no sense. You would think you would try to get it over with if you didn't like doing it..

The is one of the best videos I have watched on sales in a long time. I have been beating myself up mentally when I make a mistake or fail on a sales call.....but your point that this is part of the process of becoming great at sales really hit home...there are no short cuts to success. Thank you PS- Do you have a video have to successfully plan your Sales Day, Week and Month.. Need help with improving call planning........

What a lot of these cold emailing marketing videos fail to address is how business email "cultural" differences between geographic locations of where your prospect is based is an important factor. This tactic might work well for the US but trying this for a B2B cold emailing marketing campaign in the UK and its getting marked as spam.
