High speed trains are great, I think they should be made safer, with fewer casualties and lower cost more passengers.

Anyone who say's or thinks the Railway's are old fashioned and we don't need them, need's their head tested. Just under 18 minutes of shear pleasure, thank's, modern trains are starting to grow on me as well as the wealth of knowledge I have about the old stuff, still like the old BR corp Blue though! lol! i saw a Modern Southern Railway's train at Seaford in Sussex last year all decked out on BR Corp Blue and grey liver, boy did it look good. cant find any info on it though? was it a special or a celebration of something?

    • MrDeltic15
      MrDeltic15 4 days ago

It's Harringworth Viaduct(sometimes known as the Welland Valley Viaduct)between Corby and Oakham. I do like flying the drone here, gives a real impression of the length of the viaduct you don't get from ground level.

Excellent compilation of the current scene. Really got into your channel via your 1980/90s films, but subscribed for some time now. The drone sequence is excellent - where is that please? I do get frustrated with how much diesel hauled mileage is done under the wires - compared to BR days. There are a number of hybrid locos operating throughout europe, so what is holding us back!? Look forward to more great films from your channel.

    • MrDeltic15
      MrDeltic15 4 days ago

Thank you, much appreciated. The drone shot is Harringworth Viaduct between Corby and Oakham. There's definitely too much diesel haulage under the wires, on some of my WCML visits south of DIRFT you can easily see no electric hauled freight for hours! Hopefully things will change before too long though.

@breeze 147 Persons of Reduced Mobility. It's the requirement to make all stock more disability friendly, so automatic doors are the big necessity on the HSTs, hence plug/sliding doors being fitted on the Scotrail Inter7City, GWR Castle, and Cross Country HST Mk3s.

@MrDeltic15 what does PRM stand for?

    • MrDeltic15
      MrDeltic15 4 days ago

Supposed to be going after 31st December this year as the Mk3s aren't PRM compliant, but I think they'll get derogation and continue into 2020, maybe even until the end of 2020 when the Corby electrics enter service leaving the 222s and cascaded 180s on Intercity services until the IETs arrive from 2022.

A couple of questions if I may. What is going to be “replacing” (an impossible task...) the HSTs? How long do they have left? Where is best to see them (within about an hour of Derby, as I’m visiting in October)? Another excellent film. During the early 1990s Bank Holiday weekend engineering work led to West Coast Main Line express trains having to terminate at St Pancras with diesel power being provided between Nuneaton and Bedford.

Is that the nuclear fuel train 11.20 ? I just find it fasinating going back in time, don´t really care that much for train watching.

Great footage, a bittersweet watch. That Peak (128?) in the last on-train footage from Leicester sounded really unwell. They were obviously running them right down at the end.

What an outstanding site: earthworks for the dive under, trains off/on the Spalding line, reverse line working and the orange army at work and at leisure. Please up-date as the works progress.
