Dr. Buechel is very disappointing. My employee who surfers from MS has been trying to get into his office for weeks and he and his staff have been very unresponsive. Her episode has gotten so bad that she had to miss days of work. So not only is he not responding to her illness as a physician BUT he is impacting her livelihood. I was surprised to hear in his video that he was a social worker by trade, coming from the social work field this is so disappointing because social work core values include individualisation which means we ensure that we are meeting the needs of the individual. Also we provide access to resources; unfortunately for weeks he has denied my employee resources to live a healthy life.

Dr. Miller is the best cardiologist my father ever had here in Montgomery Alabama. I trust his judgment and he is a true listener. One of the greatest things is he never talked over my head and would take the time to explain individual diagnosis and the reason behind the use of each medication. We were so sad when he left Montgomery Alabama. But I certainly understand with the headaches created by the group here. After Dr. Miller left, we immediately changed groups. I certainly wish we could have his expertise in our continuing efforts to manage my Dad's cardiovascular problems. Thank you for all you did for us Dr. Miller, you have made a great difference in my Dad's life.

Excellent surgeon. Having worked as a family nurse practitioner for 19+ years, I have always been impressed by the care doctor Akins gave my patients. I often said that if I ever had need of a surgeon, he would be my first choice. Now that I intended to ever actually need him, I recently did a lumpectomy. Dr. Akins performed my procedure, did a fabulous job, and I will continue to recommend him to my patients due to his excellent patient care, low surgical complication rate, and his compassion.

  • Mark Akins
    Mark Akins 9 months ago

I had emergency surgery and Dr. Akins was fantastic for several reasons. I was incredibly nervous going into the operating room and Dr. Akins was joking with me. It really may be felt less afraid. He has a sort of no nonsense but funny personality that I like an eye doctor. Gets the job done officially but with a good attitude. I do not know much about surgery, but my incisions are healing well and all seems great. The wait time for my follow-up appointment was not long and the staff were nice.

I was recently diagnosed with stage I breast cancer. Dr. Akins did a lumpectomy. He is 1 of the most compassionate doctors I have ever dealt with. I always felt like he was very knowledgeable and that I could trust my care with him. He took a lot of time explaining my diagnosis and answering my questions. His office coordinated my care and radiation oncology and radiology. It always handled very professionally and timely. I would highly recommend him. A big "thank you" to Dr. Akins.

please, don't go to him for spinal fusion surgery. He did surgery on me last year and I'm in severe pain now, worse than before my surgery. N ow I have FBSS,probably for the rest of my life. I saw him after surgery and he would not listen to me and couldn't wait to leave the room. so anyone thinking about getting surgery, please think about who you're getting, it depends on the quality of life for the rest of your life.

LLU Graduate? I am lucky to be alive after you diagnosed bi-lateral pulmonary embolisms and DVT's as tendinitis of an ankle and muscle spasms. You need to read up of symptoms as you have changed my life for the last 5 years to hell and back. I had to crawl to the toilet and back after leaving your consult and the ambulance/paramedics prompt response was the only thing that kept me from being dead. Remember that when you suck at your next patient.

Sarah, from one stroke survivor to another great job in get back to normal or pretty close. I didn't know that I had had a stroke for a full week after I had my stroke. I had my stroke on a Sunday morning when I was still asleep. I remember I woke up and thought that I had a weird dream and that it was really strange, but then I had a hard time walking. But I just got ready and went to the temp job I had for Saturday and Sunday. I sat at a desk and checked wrist bracelets for those who were worked there, and took money from those when were going to the event I was working at. I got through the day and then went home when it was over. Then Monday I didn't do much, Tuesday I felt sick so I went to the ER at the VA hospital. Wednesday I was still sick so I went back to the ER. The same Dr as Tuesday thought it was the flu. Same Dr Wednesday same it's the flu diagnosis, but I couldn't keep anything down, even water. So I went home with my parents Wednesday and stayed with them then. That is until Saturday when my mom called a nurse and then my mom checked my blood pressure and it was 180 over 140, the nurse said to go to the ER right away, so we did. The Dr said that I had been to the ER 3 times since Tuesday, so something was wrong and they could admit me to the hospital to find out what was wrong. The 1st cat scan didn't show anything, but the 2nd with dye didn't show one of my blood vessels in the back of my neck, that's when the neurologist knew I had a stroke because it was blocked. It was just over a week after I knew that I had it after I had before I knew that. I had to work very hard to be able to do things again like walk. After a stroke your life is never the same again. You have to work very hard to get as much of your old life as possible. If you don't work hard to get those things back then you will never get them back into your life, or if you take it easy later, you can still lose those things, it's like you have to really work out every day, the rest of your life. Like I said before, the old life you knew before your stroke is over and dead. You have to work and life in your new reality after your stoke. You can hate the new life you are living in after your stoke all you want, or you can work harder then you've ever worked in your life to get back as much ability as you had before your stroke, but that still might be enough. If you had a stroke in the wrong place at the wrong time, you might have lost all ability to take care of yourself or to do anything for yourself. Them is the breaks when it comes to having a stroke. Some people will never be able to take care of themselves the rest of their lives, and others only if they work hard. In recovery I worked harder then I ever worked in my life. I have never worked harder then I did then. I could barely walk then the 1st week I was in the Hospital, I was wheeled by someone everywhere I went, then I went to using a walker everywhere I went, I got to the point of never needing the walker ever. I still have the walker to this day, I have it leaning against a wall at my place to be a reminder of how far I've come and where I was when I was in the hospital. Wherever I live I will have that. I couldn't walk without it when I 1st started after my stroke, now you see me walk and you would never realize that I had had a stroke 2 years ago. Praise God for how far I've come so far.

You should have your license yanked away if that is how you practice... when your own nurse knew something wasn't right with her HR and BP and yet you didn't do anything for her. I pray she is ok, and nothing happens as she awaits another appointment with a new Cardiologist. So help me anything does I will trash your name on every Heart support Group arcross FB. We as heart ptaiant deserve to be heard and handled with care it is a scary life we live and when we don't understand what is happening it is your job to find out and help us to understand and find treatmetn!

Dr. Alpa Nick, we met her after my daughter had surgery at the Mayo Clinic for Ovarian cancer October 2017. Our story is scary but the bottom line is this, my daughter is thriving. When at Dr. Nick's office we never waited more than 30 minutes to get into our scheduled appointment, many times we went right in. When a person is taking treatment they can get confused so one day we arrived for an appointment on the wrong day. Dr. Nick made arrangements for my daughter to have her tests done the day we were standing there. Dr. Nick is a real person who doesn't rush a patient. Even though she is busy, she stops and takes care of her patient. My daughter was given such special care. We are so grateful to Dr. Nick and her staff. Everyone was so kind. I hope no one ever has to go through this but if you do, Dr. Nick will be right there kickin' that diseases butt. We love her forever. Renee
