I can't believe you only have 460 subs, that's criminal. Get yourself Facebook / Twitter / Soundcloud /Bandcamp pages and I'm sure you will get loads more followers. I cam here by accident from Woody and am sure theres 1,000s of us out there that need and want to hear you. PS: This soooooo much reminded me of the great days when the DX7 was king of the hill, much-missed I hasten to add.

Nice work, again. How is it possible to record electric guitars at that (non-perceptible) noise level as shown here? Whenever I record my guitar, the recording sounds like an old AM radio.

    • Xavier Radix
      Xavier Radix Month ago

I guess it the guitar is well grounded, and shielded, it shouldn't be too big of a problem. I do still have some noise, but it's not as bad as my old setup. And, of course, using noise gates help :).

  • Master Mainak
    Master Mainak Month ago

Excellent job explaining man!!! looking forward to the finale :D The HighPass and LowPass filters are so great, does a lot to remove that muddiness especially when all the tracks play together. I have been trying some inverted EQ, when two frequencies compete in the same range, but i am not very good at it, a lot to learn still hehe.

Hey Xavier! Sounds good! Reminds me of those early 90s music that was used to aid PC commercials or software. Awesome version! Would you consider doing a tutorial for this song? Having trouble figuring out some of the parts.

    • Roy Cornelissen
      Roy Cornelissen 2 months ago

@Xavier Radix Cool! Thanks so much for the tip, will practice like hell :)

    • Xavier Radix
      Xavier Radix 2 months ago

@Roy Cornelissen Ah alright. Yes I did have trouble too getting the picking technique down on the acoustic. I have to add, this all took me quite a few takes to nail it. It's a good thing to practice this alternate picking arpeggios on the acoustic. Doesn't even have to be this song, could be something random or something you wrote yourself. Going from the chords to the solo is a bit tricky, and I cheated a little by recording the solo on a separate track, while the other track just continues playing the power chords. Do remember, for the acoustic parts, to put a capo on the first fret, or tune your guitar up a half step (which I not recommend, you might break your strings doing that).

    • Roy Cornelissen
      Roy Cornelissen 2 months ago

Xavier Radix totally understand! Well I’m a much less experienced guitar player than you so I’m finding it difficult how exactly he’s picking the strings during the acoustic parts, how to grab the all the chords and how to move through the solo efficiently. Awesome that you figured this out by ear. Probably I should try a bit harder 😊

    • Xavier Radix
      Xavier Radix 2 months ago

Thanks! I might do some tutorials in the future, but not right now. Also, I don't have any formal training in musical theory. I do everything by ear and feel. So it would be quite a tough challange to do a tutorial. What is it exactly that you have trouble figuring out? Just curious :).

Thank god for Google Translate :). Every M5 should come standard with the Dimension effect. Also the other models have it, the M9 and M13 along with many others. As far as I know, there are no downloads for this. I think you might have just overlooked it. I'd say check it out again, but slowly go through the effects. It should be in the Modulation (blue) section of the M5. It should between the "Rotary Drm/Hrn" and the "Ring Modulater" effect.

    • Xavier Radix
      Xavier Radix 4 months ago

@lisa hecker I use a Y cable that goes from a stereo plug, to two mono left and right plugs. The stereo end goes into the headphone output on the WS2, and the two mono plugs go into the two channels in my audio interface. From there I can set it in my DAW that the two mono channels become one stereo channel. The audio interface itself is just connected via USB to my PC. Hope this helps :).

    • Xavier Radix
      Xavier Radix 5 months ago

They probably sampled a whole bunch of keyboards from that time indeed. Like the "Piano" patch, is basically a sampled Roland MKS-20 set on the 'Piano 2' preset I believe.

I have one of these guitars, not moded like this one, but I’d like it to be.

    • Xavier Radix
      Xavier Radix 5 months ago

That's cool though! These have become very hard to come by. And I've never seen anyone playing this thing. Except for a few old RU-clip videos on it. The mods that were done over the years really made the guitar shine. The screaming, pink PAF Pro humbucker really helps on getting killer tones. And the original tremolo is replaced by a very well made Floyd Rose style trem from Gotoh. So the tuning is rock solid :). And we shaved off the lacquer off the neck, making it very smooth to play. In short: I love this guitar :).

Indeed, very underrated and kind of forgotten. While it isn't the best keyboard workstation ever, it has some quite unique features and sounds. I personally love the sounds on this thing, just the gritty samples, the weird 180° effects, etc. It's been a "secret weapon" of mine and I've used it quite a bit in some recordings.

Very underrated. The DX11 can out moog a Moog. Ive just come up with this bass patch on mine that has the liquid flow of a moog bass. But is even fatter. Cant wait to demo it. With the Killer RX5 drum machine soon.

@PROJECT DX Well said bro, 😉👊

    • PROJECT DX
      PROJECT DX 7 months ago

@Xavier Radix Definately. The magic was the inclusion of 8 non sine wave WAVEFORMS. It made 4 op very powerful and expressive. I thought the DX7 was the best of the X RANGE. Until I got my hands on the DX11. Then I realized after all these years. The DX11 is their greatest achievement in the 80s. But in the words of a famous English Actor NOT ALOT OF PEOPLE KNOW THAT. The 7 got all the legend and glory because it was there FIRST. The 11 is LAST off the production line. But in the words of the song. THEY SAVED THE BEST TILL LAST. And they really did. The demo is called BREAKTHROUGH. Will be up towards the end of March. Like and sub if you dig it thanks. I will keep putting out Videos on the DX11. Until more people realize how great this gem is. Programming it is much easier too. It is a wonderful synth. And the performance mode is another great touch that can produce some big wonderful sounds.

    • Xavier Radix
      Xavier Radix 7 months ago

Awesome! I'll check out your video once it comes out :) And yea, the DX11 is an extremely underrated synth... It sounds a lot fatter and warmer than the previous DX's, in my opinion. I also have a DX21, it's kinda cool but it's not as good as the 11. But that's just my humble opinion. Also a good thing to note: for me, the DX11 has one of the nicest playing keys ever.. I've played a whole bunch of synths and other keyboards, but the DX11 feels like home for me once I start playing it.
