    We only have frozen New Zealand mussels available in the general Los Angeles and Ventura county areas. If there are live ones, they are very hard to find, unless you want to pick them from among the big rocks along the shores of California, and those may not be safe to consume. If you guys know the stores that sell live mussels, please let us know. Thanks.

    I don't want to make gravy 2nite. I have many times and it only takes an hour or a little less. Also you need plenty of liquid because it cooks down easily and there isn't much gravy left. Lastly it's hard to get enough flour to stick as shown for a great crust.

    This looks good, I think if you blend the butter into the breadcrumbs you'll get a nicer finished product, also bake on a rack so it's not soggy on the bottom.

    Am I wrong in assuming that when you say tomato sauce, you mean tomato purée for us here in NZ? I couldn’t imagine using ketchup (which is tomato sauce here). It would be way too sweet and nasty. Looks like a great and easy recipe though, will try it with the tomato purée. 😀

    What kind of oil do you use? I tried using 10w 30 conventional, they tasted ok. Would synthetic make it better? Different viscosity? I should use non-detergent right?

      are you making pancakes or medicine. anyway, this recipe is too salty. i would use half a spoon of baking powder but no salt. instead of oil simmer down some butter and use that instead

    This isn't a "proper English cottage pie". It's what Americans seem to think an English cottage pie is. There's no cinnamon, you don't add "Italian herbs" or add a ton of grated cheese, and you _do_ use Worcestershire sauce.

    I Don't Know Why They Consider This Time Consuming. Aside From Cooking The Meat, Prep & Assembly Can Be Done In Less Than An Hour For A Couple Of Dozen Tamales. Instead Of Spreading The Dough With A Spatula Or Spoon, I Press My Tamale Dough Using A Tortilla Press. Perfect Size Every Time. You Can Whip Out A Batch In No Time.

    That is not a half a cup butter. A stick of butter is 1/2 cup. 2 sticks equals 1 full cup.
